Weber Platinum Rotisserie Mod

Knowing that I only spent $20 on an old, but good, Weber Platinum, I was seriously opposed to spending $140.00 on the Weber Rotisserie attachment. I really wanted the rotisserie, tho'.

I supervise the transportation department of a local school district.  One of the mechanics recently cut the top and bottom thirds off of a 55 gallon drum to use as a temporary drain pan.  He left the two structural ribs of the drum on the center section.

I asked if I could have the center.  30 minutes work with an angle grinder, some files and a crescent wrench I ended up with this:

I'll cut notches and attach the motor bracket this afternoon.  Try it out tonight.

Currently cooking with a newly built UDS,(thanks to Skouson, my brother) which is my current best smoker.  I've also got a Weber Performer, also from Sterling.  My brothers think I'm CRAZY.  (Strangely, they're right.)

OK, just got back from Mesa Thrift store.  They had a weber rotisserie attachment for $10.  Notice I said HAD.

Sometime soon, I will have a rotisserie on my smoker or kettle.
