I am new here. I will start off by saying "I love smoked meat!" I am originally from San Diego and I am grateful to be in a town where it is okay for a girl to love meat. I do not have much experience in smokers or traditional BBQ, but my dad has had a smoker for the longest time. I can say this: Smoked Turkey is one of the main reasons I go back home for Thanksgiving!  :P We are hoping to attend some events and make some friends.

On another note, my husband and I own a small metal fabrication shop in Tempe and would like to make ourselves available for those who need custom metal fabrication work.

Lastly, I am we are interested in home-brewing. We'd like to make some friends who know a little more about it. It seems like BBQ and brewing go hand-in-hand. After all, you have to have something good to wash that BBQ down!

If you'd like to know more, just ask!

-Colleen :)

Welcome Colleen. I haven't homebrewed for quite awhile but have been thinking aboiut getting back into it. I didnt have  mash and lauter tuns or did any bottom fermentation, But have made some fantastic ales, porters and stouts. If you dont have it already get Charlie Papazien's "Joy of Homebrewing"...AKA the homebrewers bible.

Welcome Colleen! Have that husband of yours build ya a smoker!! ;)

Thank for the welcome! We are so busy building things for other people right now, we don't have time to build anything for us. :( Hopefully soon!!! I was talking to my husband about that this morning. Joining AZBarbeque is our first step in trying to be social. We have lived in Phx about 2 years, but have been so busy with the re-location and start-up of our business, there hasn't been much time for fun. It is about time!  ;)

Thanks for the warm welcome. I don't know much about home-brewing yet, but I want to learn. I just ordered the "Joy of Homebrewing" from e-bay last week. It had good reviews. I hope that reading it can get us started. One idea we have been toying with is making a stainless steel home-brew system that looks like a minature version of the ones you see in commercial breweries. I think that would be fun to have for parties, etc...
