I have been talking with Brent & Kim Walton from QN4U about coming back out here to AZ and doing another great Competition Cooking class for us and our members.

What is the interest in such a class before we schedule it up?

The two dates we are looking at are Friday, January 15th - Saturday, January 16th, 2010 or Friday, January 22nd - Saturday, January 23rd, 2010.

Classes would begin on Friday at 5 pm, Dinner would be provided by QN4U on Friday night, class would then run that night and again on Saturday.  It is set up like a normal competition so you get the true experience.

Cost would be $250 per person, spouses would be an additional $25.

Alumni Non-cooking price would be $125

If we held it back out at Lake Pleasant, you would also have to pay $12 at the gate.

Let me know as we need 20 Full paid attendees to schedule this up.

Brent & Kim are in the BBQ Hall of Fame and have been one of the Top BBQ Teams in the nation for many years.  The past attendee's of their class have done tremendous on the BBQ Circuit.

Sound off if you are Seriously Interested.

This past weekend I was with them at the CBBQA Hall of Fame Cooking 101 Class
They were outstanding as always..... Great contest stories, Up to date techniques

If a contest costs on average $275 and it takes 4 to 5 to even figure out what your doing.
Does it not make since to spend $250 then practice, practice, practice  and actually be competitive after
just a couple of contests.

This is a great class, you will learn quite a lot about comp BBQ from Brent and Kim.  We took it last year, as did many of the Arizona teams, and I think everyone would agree that it was time well spent.   Just keep Dave and Mike away from the fire pit.  :D

We'd be interested in retaking the class.  We learned a helluva lot and highly recommend it to any teams that plan on competing regularly.

The mock competition is a pretty cool bonus that QN4U adds to keep the class interesting.  Heck, they were even nice enough to not DQ some guy in two categories for turning in brisket for pork and vice versa.   ;D

In short, great class and money well spent.

Ok, since I would be a returning Alumni, and was campmate with "special mystry meat" turn in guy......And if I promise to break out that cute little sun dress I been saving.... do I get the spousal discount!?!?

Of course if it turns out to be as cold as last year, I might have to double tape my nips' to keep them from showing!!! :D :D

I would love to attend, but its the cost thing. That alone is the main reason for not competing yet either. Family man with a very tight budget. So I will have to pass on this on as well.

Absolutely, just let me know when.  That offer is open to any of our member as long as we have room on the team.  Come on out, enjoy the experience and before you know it, you will be competing with your own team.
