Marty, they'll teach you how to cook chicken.

That alone should be worth the weight of that belt in gold!

FYI there is a 50/50 chance this class may move 60 miles west
to a very nice RV Park that has Cabins with bathrooms
Dry camping two nights is not for everyone ;D

Didn't you hear.  Stephen owns chicken.  That way he can stay up all night playing poker and still be OK to cook.

I am really new to the competition circuit, is this something that I should start with?  I mean, I haven't even made it to one of your events yet.  I really want to take the next step and  start competing.  Would this class be the place to start?  Just looking for input, green and lookin for advice.

Would having a 4 time CBBQA Team of the Year Champion
walk you through a simulated  KCBS Cook Off help you?
Using your smoker
In one day you will take two years off your learning curve

You saw the class has moved to the OC right?

Thom,  Where has it moved??

Lizard, welcome to the site, yes, this class would most certainly help.  Every person who took the class last year saw incredible results afterward.  I highly recommend it and know you would really have a great time and learn a lot.

The class has been moved from Indio, CA to Anaheim, CA in Orange County (The "OC" that Thom mentioned.)  The site is Canyon RV Park located at:

24001 Santa Ana Canyon Road
Anaheim, California 92808
(714) 637-0210

The have RV spaces and cabins available for rent so you won't have to camp if you don't want to.

This event, a backyarder put on by the Arizona Barbeque Association, might be just what you're looking for in order to get your competition feet wet.  Here's a link to the event info on their forum site:
