• Luau at Bear & Cindy's: June 16, 2007

Well, that was a visual I didn't need right after lunch! 

Is your idea of camping out on the patio with the dogs just passing out in the closest chair???  Or do you actually bring a tent?  Either way, I think we're in.  Nothing like a good luau and getting out of the heat.

Rainbow Lake campground is about 1/2 mile from us. It is right on the main road. If you want something a little quieter, scott's resevoir is a 5 minute drive from us...lake and free campsites.

 Looking for some RSVP's on this so we know how much food to make. Who all is coming up for this?

There ya go!! Bring Mike. Nope don't need anything for the party. I maybe making the kalua pig with butts. Haven't been able to find a pig, but no biggie. It's the salt and the ti leaves that makes the flavor. It will be really good either way.

 Slight change of plans. Something came up and we won't be doing luau. We are going to still be having a party, but will be pulled pork, chicken, and ribs.

Well hell! I finally make it back to the site, read the entire thread, check the calendar three times, get all excited with the prospect of coming up and the last thing I read is no pig? I had my heart set on “Dancin’ with Pigs!...  I suppose I could ….ah never mind
Bear & Cindy, leaving the country the following Wednesday but would really like to come up and see you guys… OK, you too Michael.  Get some more of that Reservation Buffet on Sunday too!!!  I’’ll talk with Jeri Lynn & see if we can sneak a trip up the hill.

 5 days till the shin dig.
 We will serving ribs, pulled pork, chicken, slaw, an asian chicken noodle salad, buffalo and my wife's Thai/Viet hot wings, and we also got some things to make mojitos, mango or pomegranite maritini's and margaritas, along with some other beverages.

 The weather is supposed to be in the mid 80's, dropping to around 60 at night. For the UFC fans coming up, we are getting UFC 72 on the TV. Looks like it's going to be a great weekend.

 Got the pork butts (4) on at midnight last night. Had to get up once during the night to reload the charcoal basket. Put ribs (6 slabs) on a little over an hour ago. Cindy is marinating her thai/viet hot wings. Have the peanut, ginger, cold chicken, noodle salad. Slaw dressin was made last night. The bar is stocked. A gew more little things to do and all set for people to start showing in about 2 hours or so. I post pics.
