Hey all, we are planning our first event for 2009.

What Saturday works best for you?

Last time we did our crawl on the West side of town, so this time I would like to do the East side of town.

I would like to visit 3 of them if we could.  Thoughts on which 3?

I would also like to plan a Tucson one in January as well, so let me know your thoughts on that as well.

What kind of places are you looking for? No chains? Just smaller BBQ joints?

Chains are OK as well.  I know Famous Daves likes us to come in and make a big deal, so we will probably include their Mesa or Chandler Location as one of our stops..

Probably focus more on the places that support us here at AZBarbeque for this one.

My sister is getting married some time in FEB (the exact date is still up in the air) anyway if she gets off her butt and picks a day, and the BBQ crawl is not the same day, we will be there!  So just pick a day and I will hope for the best.  :-\

Dickies on shea and Scottsdale rd.This place has to be the worst resteraunt BBQ I have ever eaten  :( The meat has absolutely NO smoke flavor, the mac and cheese is awful and the beans are mush.I tried 2 times, never going back again.

They are getting ready to open one of those here real soon. Its that bad huh. We really don't have all that many good BBQ resterants here in Tucson.

The food isn't bad if you aren't looking for "True" BBQ.  For Fast food, it's good.  I like their Turkey sandwich, their sausage sandwich and their fries there.

They don't cook with a traditional Smoker, they use a pressure cooker with wood chips, so the flavor of course is going to be different.

They had a pork sandwich eating contest over there last month and it was pretty cool.  Certainly some nice people that own and run them.

It looks like Saturday, January 31st is the date that will work best.

Please sound off if you think you will be able to make it on this day.

Looking at starting about 11 am at the first BBQ Restaurant and stopping at 3 of them this time.

Hope to see lots of you there.  ;)

BBQ Crawl on Saturday, Super Bowl party on Sunday?  Ouch!!!

I'll likely have to work on Saturday at the gold tournament so we'll end up missing the crawl if it's on the 31st.  Then again, I'll have some room in my stomach for some Super Bowl munchies the next day.
