I read the cancellation post over at the AZBBQA board this morning to and I think that it may be a good thing that the event won't be happening right now.
Perhaps the extra time, (March 24, 2007 was posted as a likely new date), will give the people who were attempting to organize the event an opportunity to secure more sponsors and competitors. In fact, I think they'd be better off to make this a KCBS or IBCA sanctioned rib cook-off instead of going with an "anything goes" approach. (Just my opinion on that.) An in town event like is a real opportunity to showcase all the fun that barbeque can be and more time to better organize the event can't really be a bad thing.
The actual reasons for the cancellation were not posted but what was said was they were "beyond control". I don't really know what that means and I suppose it doesn't really matter. What does matter is that this could be a really great event and hopefully it will be when it happens.
