Hey all, Big City BBQ and AZBarbeque are sponsoring a BBQ Class to help everyone get ready for the Lake Pleasant Cook-off.

It will be held at Big City BBQ on the Northeast corner of Alma School and the US 60 at 4 pm this Friday.

Please let us know if you will be attending.

We will be raffling off a DeWALT Radio at the event and pre-selling Raffle tickets for the Lake Pleasant event out there as well, so start your winning ways early.

See you there..  ;)

Thanks to Big City BBQ, Ron & Joe for putting this great class on.  Everyone that attended seemed to really love it and take away a lot of great knowledge from it.  I heard lots of great comments and the class really seemed to cover everything very well.

If you missed this one, you missed a great class.

We sold over $300 worth of raffle tickets for the Lake Pleasant Event out here tonight and Congrats to Darin (DDog) who won the early bird prize of a brand new DeWALT Radio.

Thanks to everyone who attended and helped make this event a success, I look forward to seeing you all out at the Lake Pleasant Event and hopefully handing one of you the Grand Champion award.

NOW, ARE WE READY TO COOK SOME BBQ????

Enjoy the pictures.  That's Tom in the one picture with his brand new Diamond Plate fully loaded series 70 smoker.  It just came in and I know he was very excited to get it.  Enjoy!!!

First off I would like to thank Mike for organizing this.

Second, thanks to the guys over @ Big City for putting on an excellent class.  The Lake Pleasant event will be my first competition event and this class put on by Big City probably saved me about 6months of on the job learning.  I implore everyone to go to the next class that Big City and Mike puts on.

They went over:
-sanitation and safety
-meat selection and preparation
-how to start making your own rubs
-how to arrange meat in the juding boxes
-what judges look for when it comes to taste texture and presentation.

They also handed out a great checklist for anyone that is going to be doing competative bbq competitions.  This checklist will serve to be invaluble because it shows everything you will need when going to a competition.  I was really sweating having to come up with a good way of remembering everything considering that this would be my first event, thanks so much Big City for handing this out.  If you would like a copy of the checklist just PM me with your email address and I would be more than happy to send it to you.

Thanks to the judges that were present there as well that let us know what they look for and what not to do as well.

One of the best parts of the class was that Big City, and Mike invited some pros that have been doing competitions for years.  I got some really great advice from all of them.
Special thanks to Tom (this guy is top notch) of Whiskey Ranch BBQ who said he would help me with my next church event  ;)

Overall this event was an absolute home run, and like I said earlier will save me tons of time and learning that I would have had to learn through trial and error.

Guys, it was great seeing you all out there too, especially putting some faces and real names to the handles on here.

Unfortunately, I can not take credit for organizing this event, it is all Ron & Joe from Big City BBQ who came to my partner Ryan and the Autism Charity and said they wanted to do something to help out all the new competition cookers entered into the Lake Pleasant event.  Unfortunately Ryan could not be there tonight due to some car problems, and I know he was really bummed about it.  He would have loved it there tonight.

I do appreciate you all attending and helping to make the Lake Pleasant event a huge success I know it will be.

Now, ARE WE READY FOR SOME BBQ???  ;D
