I am WestCoastDog and am new to this site and to smoking food. I was born in SF and graduated from Fresno State (Bulldogs), hence WestCoastDog. I have been very disadvantaged growing up in the west and having never been introduced to any REAL food until I met my wife and returned to her home state of Louisiana and began tasting great flavors for the first time.
I have grilled for many years but became bored over the years and last year after researching and watching REAL BBQ shows, I built a barrel smoker and started smoking ribs and chicken! I learn something every time I smoke, but I work weekends only and have been unable to attend any of the weekend functions in AZ. This is a great site and thank you for the warm welcome!

Welcome to the site once again, great to have you.  Glad you found us.  We do have some great members and lots of great events.  As you said though, most of them are on weekends.  Hopefully you are able to get some off during the year and can join us at some of them.

We look forward to seeing your posts and hearing how your experimenting goes.  That's the fun part about BBQ, all the great practice.  Just make sure to post pictures, we love pictures.

Enjoy the site and all it has to offer.

Happy New Year...

Mike

Welcome to AZ, I got here 3 years ago via San Jose.

Hope to see you at some events in 2009.  But you have been warned that this BBQ thing might cost you a lot of money in the form of adding cookers, an extra freezer, then foodsaver and the list goes on.

and if you get into competing, well hold on.  But it is a great ride and a lot of fun.  ;D

Again, welcome to AZ.

Welcome buddy,

Glad to see that you registered on the site.  It was good seeing you last week.  I saw the smoker in your backyard, but I still haven't seen (or tasted) any food off it.   We need to rectify that situation soon.

Welcome to the site.. If you got questions, this is the group of people to ask.   And now that you've registered, your officially committed to the next local competition.   Did I forget to mention that part?  Sorry about that.

Thanks everyone for the kind welcome!

I got lost for several weeks but made it back! Hey Don, yeah I've fired up that smoker several times and it just keeps getting right!
Ok, next competition eh? I'll get to a few for sure. The photos from the semi-recent competition looked great, lots of good looking food! Ya, Don showed up and I served him stale chips and beer. Sorry bro, it was bachelor weekend.

Thanks again everyone!
