Hello. I am new to this site, but not to BBQing. I wandered over to this site while following up on trouble shooting a Traeger Pellet grill.
My Q inventory includes a Weber Kettle, a New Braunsfel horizontal smoker, a tailgater portable propane grill that I have not used in maybe 4 years, and a brand new Traeger Pellet grill that I've used twice, last weekend to cook two chickens, and yesterday to smoke 15# of pork shoulder.
I really like the taste of food cooked over wood coals, and I like smoked meats. My New Braunsfel smoker is fun to use, but it is real work to keep it going all day (that 15# of Shoulder took about 18 hours). So I'm hoping the Traeger Pellet Grill will let me be a bit lazy and still get good smoked food. The Traeger kept itself going all day, but it seemed the temperature moved around quite a bit from the digital set point (180 set would go up to 205, and a 225 set point would go to 275/280). Anyway, that temperature variation is what got me here.
This site looks to be full of good ideas, and I'm looking forward to reading up. Thanks for letting me join.
