Hi, I'm John.  Moved from Colorado Springs a few days ago.  I've really want to work on my bbq but it has been tough due to the weather in Colorado.  I don't think I'm going to have that problem here in AZ.  It will be a few months before my cooker comes with my household goods.

I have built one smoker out of 55 gal drums just to see how it worked.  Had some good results but it is hard to keep going due to wind and cold weather.  I also have a vertical propane smoker, had to do that keep the heat up.  I'm going to check out some competitions this year and see what people are using.  Ultimately I'd like to get a very nice pit bbq.

Talk to you all as time goes on.

Glad you found us, John. It's a great group, with lots of different cookers across the board. Several drumheads, using upright home brews. Then there are several--lots of diamondplate users. Lots of Weber Smoky Mountains and Pro Q bullet smokers, and one of our faithful has a Jambo, by Jamie Geer. It's beeeeautiful!

For cooking, lower and slower. For spices, mo' hotter, mo' better. Habaneros rule!

It sure is nice to know I'm not the only one using homemade stuff.  My buddies in Colorado enjoyed ripping on me.  I knew you guys would understand.

Around here it's more about what and how you cook, than what you cook on.
