Hi! My name is Jeanie, I'm a backyard smoker.
I live in the country and raise horses, beef, pigs, poultry and shrimp.
My main smoker is a 7' horizontal wood burner. (5' cooking chamber, 2' firebox).  I also have a drum smoker that I use a lot, a cinderblock pit, vertical charcoal smoker, and I do some underground cooking/smoking.
In the winter of 2006, I built a smokehouse for cold smoking. Before that, I used the trench and barrel method to smoke hams and bacons, etc..
I forgot to add... I do a lot of campfire cooking. Mainly on my tractor rim fire ring.
I enjoy the outdoors, camping, fishing and hunting. I raise a garden and do a lot of canning. Hmmm....that's all I can think of! lol

I have a blog which is actually my diary. Not sure if I'm supposed to post a link to it here so I won't.  :)

I'm looking forward to meeting all of you!

Thank you for the welcome!
I'm in the panhandle. Not much out here but I like it.  :)  I raise shrimp in my windmill pond from May to the middle of October. Here are some pics... http://cowgirlscountry.blogspot.com/2007/11/raising-your-own-shrimp.html
They are bred in salt water but are introduced to fresh water for "growing out".  It's been a fun crop to raise!  :)

Very interesting life you have there. You stay pretty busy. I enjoyed looking at some of the items from your blog. Some looked very yummy. Might have to borrow some of those recipes if you dont mind. Once again, welcome, looks like you will fit right in here.

I travel 54 quite a bit, and it seems as if that 50 mile stretch of OK is a very busy speed trap. But we won't hold that against you. Again, welcome.

For cooking, lower and slower. For spices, mo' hotter, mo' better. Habaneros rule!
