G'day guys
I guess that you can tell from my accent that I am a "True Blue" (Australian).

AZJohnnyC dropped in and signed up on the Aussie BBQ forum and said Hi, he posted the link to this forum so I thought that I would return the favour.
I am a Moderator/Admin on the Aussie BBQ forum. I am also the VP of the ABBQA (Australian BBQ Association)
I obviously love barbecuing and have 9 BBQs altogether - 4 gassers, 4 charcoal and a pellet grill.
I demonstrated cooking for Weber Australia for 7 years - every Saturday and some Sundays between the end of September and end of December each year (peak BBQ retail time).

I have written an unpublished recipe book for the Weber Q series which I have started to re-write. i am semi-retired (lets face it no-one really retires, their wives just find other unpaid jobs for them to do) and travel around in my Winnebago. Australia is a big country About the same size as mainland USA not including Alaska. It's a 4 1/2+ hour flight from east to west and a 3 1/2+ hour flight north to south  I still have a lot to see.

In Australia most people grill using a gasser and a hotplate. Through the Aussie BBQ Forum and the ABBQA we are starting to change a lot of people over to Charcoal and low and slow, sometimes it is pretty hard work.

I look forward to reading some of the topics on your forum to get a better understanding of what you all do.

Cheers

Welcome, Phil. I have an Aussie photographer friend that enjoys checking out BBQ joints with me whenever we work together. He lives in Boston and there not much outdoor cooking there this frigid time of the year.

Crash is one of our group who lives in Hawaii and runs the Hawaiian BBQ club. Perhaps one day he'll host a competition and we all can meet in the middle. 8)

Welcome!  Glad to see you here.  I found myself fascinated looking at the Aussie site, and seeing that although there are a few differences, we are pretty much the same when it comes to our love of bbq.  Lots to learn of each other's styles, but the techniques seem universal.  Once again, welcome!

Cheers!

Johnny is too bashful to note the little known fact that what you call a dunny, we call the john in his honor. ;)
