Welcome Colleen. I haven't homebrewed for quite awhile but have been thinking aboiut getting back into it. I didnt have  mash and lauter tuns or did any bottom fermentation, But have made some fantastic ales, porters and stouts. If you dont have it already get Charlie Papazien's "Joy of Homebrewing"...AKA the homebrewers bible.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I don't know much about home-brewing yet, but I want to learn. I just ordered the "Joy of Homebrewing" from e-bay last week. It had good reviews. I hope that reading it can get us started. One idea we have been toying with is making a stainless steel home-brew system that looks like a minature version of the ones you see in commercial breweries. I think that would be fun to have for parties, etc...
I have already made the fully automated stainless steel home-brew system, and it is totally cool. If you need any help with the design, or the electrical side of just let me know. Nothing better than good BBQ and home made beer. ;D

Whoa! That sounds so cool We haven't looked into it much, so I didn't know there were designs out there. I would love to see pics of yours. I bet it looks pretty sweet! Post some pics, if you have 'em!  :)

Colleen, once again, welcome, great to have you on board here.  I did warn you that we had a bunch of characters on here... ;D

But seriously, all of our members are really great people always willing to share insight and support with everything.  Glad you finally decided to join up and start posting, be careful, it is addicting.

I see you are located in Fountain Hills, well, I am right over the hill from you by the Mayo on 136th.  Small World.

We look forward to seeing you out at some events and getting to know you and your husband better.  The BBQ world is a tight knit family and we are glad to have you.

Mike-
I am glad to see that there are some characters on here; that is what makes if fun. I haven't done that many message boards before. This one is hoppin'! Everyone seems to be good natured and fun. I love that!

We do live in Fountain Hills, but our fabrication facility is in Tempe off of Rio Salado Thank goodness for the Beeline Highway! It makes the commute a breeze!

I feel so loved and welcome already. Considering how tight knit everyone is; they sure are welcoming. I can't wait to meet people at one of the events.

I guess I need to do some more research to see what is coming up.

Thanks again for the welcome!

You can't use home brewed beer while playing Flip Cup or Beer Pong...you'll die!!!  Besides, when you're killing a 30 pack between 2 people BEFORE you even get into the game, why waste the good stuff.  Look for it to be coming out of our tap at the next competition!  Unless, of course, it's on school grounds... ;)

Ah yes, Flip Cup consists of players on each side that, when it's their turn, must drink the cup full whichever "liquids" you choose and then try to flip the cup back upright.  It's a little hard to explain, but very easy to play.  Ok, it's easy in theory but not actually when you're doing it.  Beer Pong (or Beirut as I called it during my 4 years of college) consists of usually 10 cups in a triangle full of, again, "liquids" of your choice on either end of a table.  You throw a ping pong ball and try to get it into the cups at the other end of the table.  If you get it in, the other team has to drink the cup and take it off the table.  Person with no cups left wins!  Ahhh, brings me back to my college days...

Hay Colleen, I have a smoker that I need to get rid of. It's yours for the taking. It is a Kingfisher offset 'backyard' model. I've used it about 5 times and has been sitting in my sideyard for 5 years. I went to bigger equipment and it kind of took a back seat to the others. It needs probably some grinding and new paint job, which I'm sure you and your husband can handle easily. Also needs two new wheels. It is a very good smoker. I live off of Power and McDowell not too far from you guys. Let me know.

Hola.

Sounds like we have a new barbeque clearing house.  We should call it "Jayslist"!
