O0 Man I am loving this smiley!!

Anyway...I am new around here, I found this site via MrSmoker.  I do not personally know him but he was talking about the AZBarbecue 1st annual escape the heat camping trip on another BBQ site so i followed him over here to check it out.  I live outside of Prescott in Chino Valley and man do I love it.

I Q for family and friends when ever I can, I use an older offset Hondo with all the required mods and am building a UDS as time permits but am really in no hurry as the Hondo works great and I can get 3-4 hours of burn out of her.  I tend to do a lot of Pork (pulled) and ribs (pork and beef) because that is what people seem to like the most but I am looking at doing my first Brisket on the 4th of July. As with most I started out with an ECB, used in once and now it sits.  Got a brinkman something or other pit (clam shell lid design) and it worked but held temps like a crack addict hold a job and needed tons of tending.  I finally found someone selling an older Hondo on CL for $10 (twice as thick at the Brinkman and is sealed better) so that is what I use today.

I am not all that interested in competing my self but it might be cool to be a pit beeoch for someone else sometime just for the fun and experience.  I attended my first comp last Oct at Veijas in California as a spectator and had a great time.  It was very cool to see all the competitors and all the different types of smokers being used.  We ate some of the donated Q (I believe the money went to charity) the ribs I had were good the pulled pork not so much...but I ramble...

More than likely I wont post tons but, I am sure I will pop up from time to time. I do have to remember to post sometimes so my account does not become inactive (has happened to me before).  I don't get into the "this board is better than that board" at all.  I am a member of some, a lurker on most and I try to grab the best stuff from them all.

Oh and just because here's that smiley again... O0

Welcome to the site, great to have you on here.  We look forward to meeting you soon at some of our events.

You are always welcome to come join the AZBarbeque team at any cook-off, we always have a great time.

Sounds like you have the BBQ Bug like many of us.  The best part about BBQing is the Practice.  Good luck with the Brisket, if done right, you will really enjoy it.  Have you ever tried Tri Tip?  That smokes up fantastic as well.

Hope you enjoy the site and we do look forward to hearing from you every now and then.  Once you start posting, it does get addictive.

Once again, Great to have you, we always enjoy making new BBQ friends.  ;)

Oh yea...  O0  Welcome
