Hi all, my name is Johan and I moved to Phoenix from cold Sweden two years ago. I didnt grow up enjoying true american bbq so you might say that I am trying to catch up. When I met my beautiful wife and realized that I would live in the US for the rest of my life, I decided to adopt the american way. I have Cardinal season tickets, drive a Jeep Wrangler, own a gun and love BBQ. Not what you would expect from a typical swede. But when you live in the desert there is something magic about the Sonoran sunsets, saguaros and the smell of smoke.
Still a newbie and would appreciate any advice and skills that you can share with me. First of all - I need a good smoker for my backyard. Have a lot of friends from Europe visiting all the time and I want to be able to blow them away with great que. What would you recommend?

Besides enjoying great BBQ I run my own company. www.magnussonllc.com

Thanks in advance

azcolt45: I live in Phoenix (By Cavecreek and Greenway). Happy to hear you from you. 3/4 or 7/8 is enough for me :-)
Mike: I appreciate it. Looking forward learning from all. And there are really a lot of good stuff on this site. had a big laugh reading about the "bacon explosion" on recipes. Got to try that one out.

Welcome aboard, Johan. I'm an "almost Swede", Mom grew up in NW Minnesota, and her siblings all moved to Minneapolis and married Scandinavians. I hear they have lefsa parties...that'd be Norwegian, eh?
Yes, share Swedish recipes with us. My stepson had a friend over here working for Volvo until their work visa ran out. I guess he's got a standing invite. Mebbe he should've spent his tax return on that instead of X-Box 360...

For cooking, lower and slower. For spices, mo' hotter, mo' better. Habaneros rule!

Hey Bernie. You can and they actually taste pretty good. You can always get the IKEA one and put them on the grill or in the smoker. But I prefer to make my own a little bit bigger and with more chooped onions in them :-)
Buy the gravy and the must have lingonberries from IKEA though :-)
