I am going to be doing some smoking tomorrow. I have some match light charcoal I was going to use with cherry wood chunks..  I have read not to use charcoal that is pre treated with with Fluid.  Would I be wise not to use this and go buy something else.. Or will it without giving me a fuel flavor

Thanks

I myself have gone to all lump charcoal. I at one time used brickets for the grill and don't do that anymore. I have never used the easy lite.

I don't eat vegetables. The meat I eat, eats vegetables.

Personally, I would get that bag of Match Light as far as possible away from my smoker. Just the thought of using it could destroy your smoker. ;D ;D

I have only used MatchLight once and felt to had a residual lighter fluid taste. :-X You can minimize it somewhat if you use a chimney and can burn it down to no flames and white ash coating. But you are probably better off for saving it for weenie roasts at the park.

Bought some once for off site cooking and didn't use on that trip. Kept tripping over it in the garage and decided to use it. Got the coals all ash and it still ruined the steaks. Can't imagine what it would do over a long smoke. Throw it away or give it to someone you don't like!
My 2 cents.

You can't drink all day if you don't start early.

Or use it as a heat source for something you cook wrapped in foil.
