While the best spots for barbecue in the U.S. are mostly in small towns down windy dirt roads or in roadside shacks, in honor of Barbecue Week, we've combed through all of our "Top Barbecue" lists nationwide to present you with the No. 1 rated options in 10 major cities.

I saw that. They have all the hotbeds of BBQ covered:NYC, Boston, Philly, San Francisco, etc.
That's Zagat for you. They can't see beyond the skyscrapers. 8)

Ain't never heard of Snow's in Austin. I have done lots of research on who like's where in Austin, and this must be one of those "best kept secrets" or in super stealth mode 'cause it aint even close to bein on the radar. I guess the writer's didn't want to wait in a line goin round the block to try J.Mueller's or Franklin. As far any of the town's in the valley go,well...It's visible from 1100 miles away that there is an impact on the bbq scene from out west. Just look at the list of folks at the Jack and The Royal from last few years.
Zagat's??? I think I have seen their plaques in cheesy chain eateries, if I aint mistaken.

Snow's BBQ is not in Austin, but in a little town about 60 miles northeast. It made a splash a few years back when Texas Monthly Magazine named it the best BBQ in Texas. http://www.snowsbbq.com/

The Zagat Guide was a lame attempt to create the equivalent of a Michelin Guide for the U.S. If you ask me, the Zagats are nothing more than a married couple who decided to come up with a scam to write off their meals at fancy, big city restaurants. It grew from there. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zagat

This place is really good from what I hear but you would need to leave Austin around 6:30 to get some.

I have eaten at Snow's and will say it was good. I wish I had seen the video before and would have enjoyed meeting Tootsie.
