Went by the Scottsdale location for lunch and doors were locked. City notice posted---out of business. Bummer. BBQ was actually quite good. Best in Scottsdale, at least.

Why the closure? Location not great and serving style likely big factors, IMO.

When I talked with Mike on Wednesday he said it was due to the landlord.  He said business was good, but the land lady was a pain in the ass to work with.

I'd take that with a grain of salt. To abandon all of the work that it takes to open a business b/c the landlord was a PITA doesn't seem likely. Really, most landlords will leave you alone if you simply pay on time, follow the building rules and don't trash the place.

I agree,my landlord loves me,I have been here 12 years, pay my rent on time, take care of my store, and thats all he wants,it's just bussiness. And to be locked out of your bussiness and lose all that equipment, smokers, etc. is crazy, thats alot of money lost there.

Perhaps, but that is all that he told me besides that it was getting good business when he closed it.  Other than that, you'd have to wait for the man himself come here and comment.

Glad to hear they are still open in the original location.  I wish them well, as it is a tough business.

Never been to Q to U, but heard great things. Too far away. Maybe this is your chance to open a shop in Scottsdale!

Scottsdale now has Texas BBQ House, Big Daddy's and Stacey's vacant. There might be a smokin' deal for someone like David to make it happen. I personally attribute some of the poor performances to little or no advertising. "If you build it, they will come" rarely works in the restaurant biz, especially in an over saturated market like Scottsdale. And constant couponing is a fool's game. You devalue your product, rather than build your brand.

Could not say that any better.  It is tough, as the general public has come to expect the "5 dollar Foot long"  I don't know when the public gave up on quality.

I will step off my soap box and go back to cooking good bbq.   ;D

Too far  ??? ??? ???

I travel from Florence at least once every quarter to get some Q to U love.  Food is amazing, and I get their unbutton your pants platter to take home which has insane value to it.

Talk about meat that falls off the bone. My friend stabbed his rib with his fork to pull it over to his place and it pulled the meat straight off and kept the bone on the plate lol.
