Long time reader, first time poster...

My wife and I are heading out to Scottsdale tomorrow from PA.  Looking for some excellent BBQ.  Can anyone give me some suggestions?

Thanks for the help!

Welcome to the site/club Ted, great to have you.

How long are you in town for?

Not many BBQ places in Scottsdale, but there are some within a 15 - 20 minute drive.

Let me know and we can certainly recommend some of them.  ;)

Welcome to the site.  Mike's right, there are quite a few that are worth the drive in the metro Phoenix area.

I would suggest taking a nice ride out to Carefree and trying the new BBQ place out there.

It is called Bryan's and it is pretty good.

Also have Thee Pitts Again in Phoenix on 57th Ave & Bell.  If Roger is cooking, it's pretty good.  He has been on the BBQ Circuit since the mid 70's and has won every major BBQ Comp out there.

There are others, but I would suggest starting at those..

I haven't been to Bryan's which is in Cave Creek (adjoining Carefree), but it would be a much nicer scenic desert drive for someone from back East. Here are a couple of reviews about it:

The town of Cave Creek is also nice to walk around and go to the funky shops, kinda fun and much better weather than PA.  Bryan is a good guy and one of the better places around.  Tell him you found him from AZBarbeque.

It's a shame that there aren't more places we can tell you about...

Beyond the good comp. cooking in AZ we don't really have BBQ restaurants figured out yet. There are a few, like the ones mentioned in the thread but otherwise It's slim pickins. Good luck!

Yep,  I am putting the Stripper pole in the back just for the club.   ;D

Everything is moving along, getting bids and keeping the ball moving.  But moving the plans out of the Maricopa takes time.   we are hoping to be open late March to early April.

Q-to-U-BBQ is a go.  I ordered my FEC 500 for the smoker,  I am searching out a 10x10 walk in and going to put together the kitchen.  Fun, exciting, scary and oh, did I mention expensive.   :D

Yep Dean, that is what I was trying to say.  The plans go in and then sit????   Then you are hoping to get them out and pull permits.   It is a learning and waiting process.

We ended up in Old Town Scottsdale.  Bar hopped (Rusty Spur, etc) and then ate at Los Olivos.  Was really good!!!  Not Q, but second best thing...  Mexican!

Thanks for the help.  Picked a great week to stay here... Golfed at TPC course on Wed and sunny all week!  Leaving today and rain..
