Of all the things I've ever lost, I miss my mind the most.

Mrs. McFrankenboo

Have not heard good things about Hog Wild in Cottonwood (hubby's family lives up there and say it's mediocre) but I know Satchmo's competed in some comps out in Taylor a few years ago and did well.  I would think that their's would be pretty good.  Haven't heard of the others but I'm always leery of new restaurants with meat covered in sauce (based on the pic of the one in Sedona) because good Que doesn't need sauce!  There's been a run of new restaurants with all the popularity of BBQ lately.

Stopped in at Hog Wild about a year or so ago, they don't even use their smoker to cook BBQ, guy said he didn't need a smoker to cook good BBQ.

They boil everything, then cover it with sauce...

Jamie's a stand-up guy that seems to have a good thing going.  Last I heard they were cooking on an FEC (with Hickory I think) and were only open a few days a week.  They were a serve-until-they-run-out operation and did well with the local folks.  The old location was a bit tricky to find and you would have to be looking for it.  I think I heard they were moving soon though.

I've never tried their Q but have heard good things...better than the other Flag Q joints according to locals.  Cornbred may know a bit more about Sartchmos since he's a local and a restaurateur.

Indeed! Satchmo's is solid BBQ. They moved to 4th Street and 7th ave on the east side. Jaime's place is on the corner of the strip mall on the east side of 4th st. He's a K.C. boy and cooks like it! I know he's been doing some salmon entree's for one of the higher end restaurant's in town. Not sure if he's still doing the salmon. Crash is right, he is a great guy. He also has a RAD custom smoker that looks like a Lang.

I ran into Jamie at a food show, he only cooks 3 or 4 days a week or at least that is what I remember.  Nice guy.
