Im new to using  smoker picked one up finally a month ago after using the grill as a smoker often. Seemed to work OK but not like the smoker. I have done a couple pork butts and ribs as well as a few whole chickens. Everything has been coming out great!

going to do an 8lb Brisket. I have a rub recipe that has turned out great and will be rubbing it and starting it first. I think it will take a bit longer then the pork butt. Im guessing for a 13 hour smoke on the brisket and 11 hours on the pork butt from past times.

The ribs have come out great in about 4 hours.

Ill upload some pics after I rub them and wrap them.... YUMMY

How big is the pork butt and what temps are you cooking at?

13 hours for an 8lb brisket seems long, depending on what temps your smoker is holding at.

Keep us posted and good luck dude.

13 hours does seem a bit long.......I was thinking more like 8 hours(or less) depending on temps.
Keep us posted and good luck

Deven, any finished pics? And what do you mean by "turning on" the smoker? Is it electric?

For cooking, lower and slower. For spices, mo' hotter, mo' better. Habaneros rule!
