I have looking at that site almost every day, that was the first contest we entered in our short BBQ history.

Ahhh Scottsdale, the CROWN JEWEL of the AZ bbq scene. In my little opinion from the first year it broke all expectations and eclipsed all other BBQ events in things to do and "fun factor".
Am I wrong?

Both years at Scottsdale were awesome,Rick and David did a great job,the only problem was last year when some midget pretended he didn't know about health dept. rules,but once again Rick and David came through for all of us and it went on and was great! This year should be even better

is this a peoples choice? or can you enter to submit your meat to the judges only with no samples? this will be my first event and i am really excited. im not really into the giving out samples to the public due to not having all the licenses , but would deff like to make my meat for the judges!!! thanks guys this forum is great

Yes. You can compete and not do PC.

My application went in today!  This event is quite possible the coolest event around.  I wouldn't sweat the health department too much for PC.  I think I'll be doing this one solo but hopefully I'll be able to serve at least a few cases of meat for PC on Sunday.

It's my understanding after talking with Mike last weekend in Vegas that H.D. permits are handled by the Res and not the county. I totally agree with Scott, I wouldn't/won't get wound up about it as they want this event to go off as much as everyone else does.

I agree, I wouldn't "assume" anything either as that can be real painful if one is wrong. That's why I asked him, especially since Mike just did the food truck wars at that very Casino. All I can say is what I asked and the answer I got from someone who's vended there and will be involved in this event.

Can anyone in the area recommend a nice hotel near the venue?  We will be bringing the entire family, and need a place for them!
