Looking for ideas for a thermometer for my Weber bullet. I use one now that I stick in the release valve on the hood. Has anyone drilled a hole in the lid and put one in? If so what kind/brand?

We drilled 3/8" hole just below the first grate and inserted a threaded rivet. It is only a 1/8" hole but it allows us to push a turkey fryer thermometer or other small probe thermometer into cooking area and it's cheap. When drilling the hole start with smaller bit first and go slow so the porcelan wont crack.

Lowes carries a thermometer around $8.00 -- we drill the top and bolt it in. Remember we really don't care what it reads -- we use it as reference 200 deg were happy. If you need exact I have heard of a digital with a probe stuck in a potato.

We really don't care what the dome says. More concerned about temp at the grate level where the meat is cooking.

Do you watch this all night? All nighters seem to still be the norm for contests

No, we let the Stoker wake us if it needs attention. It's a good sleep since we have JayBirds old RV. Thanks JayBird...
