It sounds like a smart idea and an especially good opportunity for newbies to catch the bug.

On a different note, every year when that Festival of the West pops up in the springtime, I can't help but think that it would be a good idea if they included an AZ Barbecue event. I believe that they always have a chuckwagon competition. I guess the whole deal is a pretty major event for WestWorld. Has anyone ever been to it and thought the same thing about BBQ being missing from it?

I just looked it up. Here's their website.

Man, I don't even have a clue what goes on at a bbq comp, but this has got my attention. Can a man solo as a team?

I'll partner up with you Johnny if you want.  I'll bring my WSM, you bring your offset.

This is something that I would love to judge but, unfortunately, we're already commited to be in Las Vegas that weekend.

I think it's a great idea.

Mark,  we have contacted the Festival of the West for the past few years, they are all for us coming in and doing a contest, but they are not willing to give us any money or let us bring in any sponsors.  That makes it difficult to do without any means to recoup fees, prize money and costs.  We are still working with them and hopefully as we have more and more quality contests here in the state, we will actually get these events calling us.

Aww, Dean, I was gonna make a pass at Johnny. Ask him if he'd be my date...or vice versa. What'll it be Johnny? Him, me, or can we "menage" together!! Maybe I'll have a drum by then! Major Woody Dart-B-Q Lockdown BBQ team.

The more the merrier. Just have to be sure someone stays sober enough to watch the pit. I have to see if someone will swap on-call weeks with me before I can commit.

Dean, I didn't mean to horn in, as it were, but can you dig it? And what's that avatar? Not a walnut, is it? Calf fry?

Maybe we could borrow somebody else's pit!  >:D The Secret Society of Jay's Jambo Jonesers first meeting!
