Well Mark, I hate to announce events without having everything firmed up, but here is a brief breakdown of what we are planning. I have 2 other medium cook-offs we are working on that I can't yet announce due to legalities, but hopefully soon.

Sept/Oct - Diamond Plate Smoker Cook-off
December - AZBarbeque Annual Holiday Party
August - December - ASU & Cardinal's Tailgate Parties
June - BBQ Crawl
July - AZBarbeque Party at the Bears in Lakeside, AZ
July/August - AZBarbeque Cruise - Tentative for 2008, planned for sure for 2009.

October 3rd & 4th, Fear Farm BBQ Cook-off
What kind of stuff do they grow at a Fear Farm? ;D ;D ;D
-
Michael,
I have some friends that would like to organize a BBQ Comp in October some time in Anthem. I know nothing about Promoting and Organizing. Please call me at 623-3227714 or 623-399-0844.
Thanks Karyn

Mike,that fear-farm event,where is that ? Will it be a 4 meat contest,and will there be any sanctioning ?
-
I keep seeing that and thinking it's Fear Factor bbq. You'd be good at that, Timmy. ;D
-
The Fear Farm event will be October 3rd - 4th out at Fear Farm located at McDowell & the 101 on the West side.
It will be a 4 meat contest and it will be sanctioned by AZBarbeque. 15 teams will make it a State Championship.

It's disappointing that you had to pick the same weekend as the American Royal to hold this event.
-
Vince, It's the weekend the Sponsor, Fear Farm, wanted it as it's the weekend they kick off their Fear Farm adventure.
From past experience, most AZ teams don't go to the Royal each year and we felt that the majority of them would be at this event. The way gas prices are, traveling 10 - 25 miles is cheaper than 1000 miles. :o
If you are going to the Royal, we wish you the best of luck and look forward to you bringing home some hardware. ;)
-
Hot damn, I think I may be able to make this one, too, just to prep for the butt-kicking in November. Things are starting to go my way...
-
A heads up. We are in the works for a comp in the white mountains with Summit Health Care for next June in Show Low. Also looks like an August cook off in Alpine working in on an event that already does a CASI cook off and tequila workshop. There is also interest in a summer cook off in St. Johns.
-
Keep up the great work Bear, we are looking forward to coming up there and really growing the AZBarbeque family in the North. We appreciate all your hard work and efforts.
THANKS!!! ;)

Mike, what is the latest info on the Fear Farm event ,is it still a go ? Will this event be KCBS sanctioned ? I am marking calendar for fall with kids back at school, holidays, etc.,just wondered what events are firm yet :)
-
I know there have been cook-off's in the past in Tuscon at Old Tuscon Studios, wonder what it would take to get one there again? I may actually make some calls and look into that location for an event, unless someone knows a reason to not have one there.Mike, have you or anyone else in the past contacted them ?

Tim, We appreciate any help. With our site relaunch, there will be some great new announcments including some Statewide support. More details in about a week.
As for Fear Farm, no, it is not a go, BUT, we do have another one in the works for the weekend of October 10th that is fairly solid. It will NOT be KCBS Sanctioned.
We also have the Diamondplate only cook-off that we are finalizing details on that will be in Late September in the West Valley by the Cardinal's stadium. We will have more details on that as well next week. It also will NOT be a KCBS Sanctioned event.
We have at least 3 more events before the end of the year with another 1 or 2 possible. As we get them all finalized, we will announce them. ;)
