OK, with Thanksgiving just a month away, what's everyone's plans for Thanksgiving this year?

I know my family and I do up a big dinner at my folks house.  We make a day of it, watch Football all day and enjoy a great, fun day.

What are you doing?

I'm flying Molly and the kids to see my family in Columbus, GA. Thanksgiving is when all of my side of the family gets together and we usually do Christmas here in town with my wifes family. Typical Turkeyday plans - eating too much, watching football, drinking way too much, and making fun of all of my brothers and sisters and thier kids.  :)

Columbus,Ga?  I've done my time at the Benning School for boys and we have an office there now, so I'm in Columbus / Phenix City pretty regular.

The daughter will be home from college, my mom is flying from Texas.  We will be at my casa here in Gilbert.  I smoked a turkey last year, my first cook on a UDS.  I think this year its all traditional done by my mom and my wife.

Cooking for the wife and two kids. Probably deep fry a turkey, cook a ham, and maybe do a turkey in the oven too. Back home I cooked for the wife's family. Usually had about 20 show up. Haven't broke the habit of cooking too much yet.

You can't drink all day if you don't start early.

Yep - my parents and three of my brothers and thier families live in Columbus. I lived there during my high school years then joined the Navy and got stationed in San Diego for "A" school and then to Pearl Harbor, HI for my duty station. Met my wife on the beach in San Diego 14 years ago - she was born and raised in Scottsdale/Phoenix. When I got out of the Navy in 1998 I moved here and the rest is history...

BTW - stay away from Victory Drive!  ;)

We always have the whole family over (15/18) and smoke one turkey and bake one for us.Then while I'm smoking I do 2 or 3 for friends. This year we will not be doing anything due to medical problems.

Last year I smoked 2 12# turkeys--Smoked one for a guy at work, and he bought me the other one as payment. Smoked at about 300* for around 5 hours. They were incredible!! I hope to do another 1 or 2 this year.

For cooking, lower and slower. For spices, mo' hotter, mo' better. Habaneros rule!

Hanging out with my wife's family and I'm probably going to smoke a small bird and cook one in the oven. Lots of food and lots of drink and of course watching football... Great, now I'm hungry!!!   :-\

If you are looking for a great recipe for your turkey this year, use this one... It is the best turkey (HANDS DOWN) I've ever eaten! http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/good-eats-roast-turkey-recipe/index.html

It's a bit of work but I promise you won't be disappointed... *** NOTE*** if you decide to try out this recipe make sure your oven is cleaned before you start cooking... The reason is the recipe calls to start cooking at a very high temp for the first 30 minutes and this (in my opinion) is very important because you don't want any scraps or drippings to burn and smoke you out.
