AZBBQA is working with yourtailgateparty.com to bring a Superbowl tailgate party and KCBS BBQ contest to Arizona. The contest will be held in Peroia on the same weekend as the Superbowl. This is a four day event with something for everyone.

Prizes include:

$400 1st
$250 2nd
$125 3rd
$100 4th
$75 5th

Sounds like fun but with the FBR Open and Super Bowl both happening that weekend I'll be working like a field hand all throughout the week and weekend.

It's going to be at the Peoria sports complex,and yes it will be smack in the middle of all the traffic,thats what they are hoping for,to draw some of it to the event.

Actually it will probably be at Tanzania Speedway. From what I understand the sports complex is all leased out by the NFL.

35th Ave and Broadyway would be Manzanita Speedway, which is the dirt track.  I know because we go there all the time for a little Redneck Recharge.  Hell of a place for beer and tubetops.  Makes sense to have a Que out there if there's racing going on too, but to be honest I wouldn't sleep out there without bringing some old friends from the 3rd SOG.  It's just not a very safe place and rent a cops in their parking lot could get real interesting. 

Guess I'll have to wait until their site is updated.

Sounds like a fun event.  We are already booked out for 3 different BBQ Tailgate gigs over that weekend, so we will be BUSY!!!

Any update on location ?  IMHO, I think Manzanita Speedway would be a Bad Scene.

Yes, we are currently working on a better location. The date and the rest of the details will be the same though.

Jaybird, from what I know it is still a go. Do to my limited time I had to pull out of helping with the contest so I dont really have anything to do with it anymore, but check the website and see if he is still doing it. I know that he was looking into getting a better location secured last time I talked to him.
