Ok, so the weather is against us and we can't pre trim, might not be able what ever, you take your chances.  I can deal with that too. 

Now, what is the best direction to take to get there??  If I take 93 to get there I will have to go over the Damn, is that a problem with a trailer, etc.? 

Should I consider going through Laughlin on 68 and then catch 95 up??? 

I have not made this trip before, so what has worked in the past??

We will be on the road Friday morning around 7:30 or so??

The Dam gets pretty crowded over Memorial weekend. We just go through Laughlin. You avoid the security checkpoint before the Dam that way too.

Funny you mentioned Hoochie Que, Mike just took the GC at a small event in Utah (non sanctioned and 16 teams).  He admires your abilities, as he has stated several times on other forums and is warming up for the up coming Utah event that you and I think Vince are going to??

I just got off the phoen with Chris Carroll and she told me that the health dept. is really cracking down in NV after that whole needle/hepatitis thing a few months back,Chris said the whole pre-trimmed thing is mostly directed at Vendors,not competitors.Chris said she did not think there would be a problem pre-trimming meat for the comp,as long as you have the receipts to show where and when it was purchased.HOWEVER,she also said that there is a new health dept. rep that will be there and will be following the codes pretty much to a T and that things will be tight, so she CANNOT guarentee that if you have trimmed meat ,for the competition,that the health dept. will accept it.She doesn't think that there will be a problem,but things are kind of upside down there right now, and there seems to be some confusion as to what the health dept. will allow for sure.One thing she did say is that they will be checking to make sure meat is on ice and at correct temps(duh,no kidding,as usual)and that there is NO cross contamination of meats.I asked her more about the cross conatmination thing and she said that the chicken,beef, and pork must all be kept seperate from one another,especially if it is pre-trimmed,she said that if it is all together,in the same cooler, and pre-trimmed,the health dpt. may not allow it.So take it for what it's worth,Chris said they are having a pretty hard time with the health dept.this year ,but trying to work with them.Should be interesting

We had been considering it in order to take the CBJ class but I think we're going to do the Payson CBJ class instead.  Friday is our arrival day.

I heard that the Health Dept. isn't just going to be checking temperatures in food bearing ice chests but also using test strips to check for the PH of the melt in each ice chest.  This could raise all kinds of havoc depending on where you get your ice.  Be sure to have your drain spigots clear during the inspection period.

But we're good with that -- we're already equipped with four species-specific cookers.

Well since the weather looks like it may be bad,I got the wife and daughter a room at a local hotel,heck it's only .36 miles away,  Walking distance and looks nice.At least they will get a warm good nite sleep  ;)There are 2 or 3 close enough to the comp that you could almost walk to if anyone needs a place.
