Title: Reminder for BBQ with the Bears.
Post by: bearbonez on May 24, 2006, 04:11:58 pm
My wife and I are hosting a meet and greet (bbq party) at our new home in Lakeside. The party will be on July 8th. The party will be family friendly. For those looking to stay the weekend, there are plenty of lodges, hotels, and cabins in Pinetop/Lakeside. Also there is fishing close by. Public access to Rainbow lake is 1/2 mile from our house. Show Low lake and Scott's resevior are about a 5 minute drive and Scott's has ample camping site's. Game fish include catfish (some big ones), small and largemouth bass, trout, walleye, and northern pike.
I will try posting a map for directions and I can be gotten a hold of at 928-369-6098.
Please be mindful of where you are parking when coming to the bbq. Park to one side of the road and be sure not to park in a way that blocks driveways, the road, or private property. I look forward to meeting new people and a great party.
   Bear.

This is the closest I can find using mapquet. Follow the directions. Where it ends is at Heritage lane which will be a dirt road on the left just before the pond and rainbow lake. From there go right (west) about 200 yards, turn right and go another 100 yards, turn left and find parking that won't be obtrusive to any driveways, private property of blocking the road. Best to that everyone parks on on the side of the road so people can get around.
I am attempting to link the map now.

The bad news is that it is red flag conditions now, so no charcoal wood fires of any type allowed. The good news is Mike has offered to bring up his gas grill, and the home builder who built our house has offered to let me use his NIB GOSM type smoker. So everything is still as planned.

Bear, I have not had a chance to talk with you since we met at the planning meeting for Lake Pleasant event. If the invite is still open we would love to join in. Wife, I & Two makes 4.
Tell me though... what does a guy bring to a party like this other than enough sence to find parking that won't be obtrusive to any driveways, private property of blocking the road?
Really?

Bob

Hey all, Ryan and I just finished helping Mr. & Mrs. Bear move into their new digs today and it looks like they will be ready to entertain on the 8th of July for those of you looking to get out of the heat and head up the hill.

We also discussed getting the Pay per view of the UFC fight that night, so it should be a great day, great BBQ and great evening up there.

Bear did ask that we try to get an estimated head count on who is planning on coming so they know how much food to BBQ up, so if you are planning on going, please sound off.

Looking forward to seeing you all up there...  ;)

Bear, what is your exact address so I can Mapquest it...

BBQQQQ do we have to have BBQ? Just kidding. If you are really taking another head count the Willis family of Desert Hills will be attending. Jeri Lynn, Bob, Trevor & Josh.
Count me in on the fight and again, Can I at least make a Dutch Oven Cobbler or something... get 'em all fat and sleepy so they are not in the way during the fight
What time can or should we roll in Saturday? We are going to be camping in the area from Wed, on i believe. We should be ripe for the party... we'll try to find a campground with a shower as the Casino wont let us check in till later in the afternoon.
Let me know about the cobbler

I will try to make the mapquest thing work. Won't work by directions to our street. The street is brand new. 911 doesn't even have our adrress in the system yet. I will make it work though.
Cobbler sounds great. Thier is some nice camping spots at Scott resevior. Not the best fishing (rocky bottom but should be ok if you are reeling in with a catfish on the line.) they have toilets and garbage dumpster, other wise primitive camping. The lake is about 5 minute drive from the house.

Bear, after talking with you this morning i did talk with the Lakeside Ranger District and YES Scott Res. is open and they plan on it staying that way... Upon further review I also spoke with BIA and found that a lot of the Apache Sitgreaves is open on the rez. Inculding the cabins & lodge & Hawley lake... I couldnt resist Bear... I booked a room in the lodge for 65 bucks a night... Thur & Friday so perhaps... Beets the heck out of hauling the tents, lanterns & tarps just to sleep in the rain and not have a fire.  You & MRS. Bear want to come hang on the rez. we can do that or perhaps we will still come in on Friday mid day to see if we can help you with set up or just drink your beer.. then when it starts to go twilight we can stumble down to Scott Res. & drown a few worms.
Yes thank you, the Cobbler is good. "Made me three times the man I was"
And BTW
Don't worry...911 will know exactly where you live by the end of the weekend...DOH!

Here is the link if anyone else wants to stay there too.  http://www.hon-dah.com/home1.html

Bear, talked with one of the members from our site today, Pete.  He and his wife and two kids are planning on coming up as well.  They will let me know by Tuesday if they got the rooms.

Also, I met a guy tonight that lives right up there by you, he is a very good friend of my brother's and he drives for one of the construction companies up there.  I invited him and his family as well as he was saying he wanted to meet you as well as see the fight.  ;)  Hope that was OK...

It's going to be a great time up there next weekend... I can almost taste it now.  ;D

Bear... We Willy Willis' will be departing Thursday mid day.. Again, I will do the dessert Cobbler on Saturday. I will also bring beverages as to not over burden the Miller Lite driver in your area.
As mentioned in another message, I was planning on poping by or at least calling mid day Friday to "see if you need help with anything or just drink your beer". We are going to be at Hawley and other area lakes..Perhaps we can bring a mess of fish to the party... Wishful thinkin... I suck as a fisherman but do a pretty good job as Dad so we will keep trying. Ya just never know when there might be a mass fish die out and we are in the right place at the right time.

I'll talk with you Friday if not before.. Safe travel all.

Be happy to have you over whenever you feel like dropping in. I have some family and friends coming up Friday to help with getting some of the last touches of getting the house ready and just hanging out. I will be cooking all day getting ABT's prepped and sides together, as well as getting the pork butt and chicken cooked and all that. What do you need fore the cobbler? Need wood? a hole dug? Just let me know if you need anything ready ahead of time or we can get er ready on Friday.
