Title: Events not on calendar
Post by: AzJohnnyC on June 13, 2009, 05:55:13 pm
I looked at the calendar to find upcoming events, but it's empty for a few months.  I look in this forum, and there are events posted.  Don't they get added to the calendar?  It's easier to find out what's going on that way.

Noticed that my self. It's probably hard to figure out which events to put there. Wether part of AZbbq or outside the state.

Maybe they should all be on there?  It's a "one-click" way to find out what's going on, especially when you have a day or weekend free and are looking for something to do, versus searching through the "upcoming events" forum...which has it's place as well.

Hey all, great questions.  I don't put anything on the calendar until we have them 100% locked in.  I put them in the Upcoming events section because so many were asking about them, but as of yet, they are not 100% locked down.  They are close and hopefully we can get them locked down quick, but until it does, it won't go on the calendar.

We also have a few other events coming up that we will be adding soon.  Stay Tuned!!  ;)

Maybe add a (T) next to events on the calander, denoting they are tentative?

I think AzJohnny may have been referring to some of the non-AZbarbecue events that get discussed on the forums such as Pueblo, Boulder, the upcoming Mesquite competition, etc.

Maybe it would be possible to include announced sanctioned KCBS and/or  IBCA events in states that border AZ. (CA, NV, UT, CO, NM).   Just a thought.

Yeah. Any event that's of interest to members should be on the calendar, in my opinion.

Hey, I'm a one man show here.  If you see an event coming up in another state, have the promoter contact me and once I verify it, I will post it up.

As a promoter myself, when we have events, I go to all the other sites and post it up.  That's what these promoters should also be doing.  I know I have worked with Arlie, Thom and a few other promoters in the past and it's worked great.  I just don't have the time to run this site, my other two businesses and still see what all the other states are doing.  If you are up for the job, let me know...  ;)

I don't know how it all works. I was just saying that if someone has taken the time to post in upcoming events, why not add it to the calendar? Maybe other events could be posted there as well, with a notification that a new event has been added. I know of a car wash that's going to be held for that little girl, would that merit a calendar addition? See, I just don't know how the site works. I'm new to this.
