Title: Benefit Volunteers needed
Post by: bearbonez on December 02, 2006, 06:03:10 pm
I have a sad story to relay. On Wednesday, the day of the storm, I had a bad story told to me by my wife.
A friend of my wife's boss had gone outside, when she was out in the shed, the propane next to the house exploded and destroyed the house, It killed her 2 year and 4 year old children. Her Boyfriend (long time) ran into the house to try and save the children and lost his life in the attempt. She is left with nothing to take of her 2 boyfriends children who we're at school during the tragic event.
This evening I found out the woman is Dan's sister. Those who we're here for the house warming shin dig have met Dan. He is the foreman who built my house.

I asked Cindy to talk with her boss and seewhat we could do for some type of benefit event and that I would volunteer my smoker.
If I could get some volunteers to come up with cookers if possible, I am thinking we could sell tickets for people to sample bbq ( avoid catering health dept restrictions as I dont have a certified kitchen to use).
Any thoughts, ideas, and volunteers welcome. I am thinking early January for this.
If you can help, please send me a PM.

I will be checking with Wally World, Safeway and eddie's country store to donate some chicken or brats or something like that. Along with napkins, paper plates and plastic forks.
Also I found out that one of the steak houses is lending thier property for a benefit auction.

Wanting to hear a definate answer from Bare Tree Furniture for use of thier lot, I am going to check with the floor store as well.
I am thinking that I can probably get the local stores to donate meat (brats and chicken) buns, prepared sides, etc.
With this month being pretty much booked solid for everyone, I am thinking the week after new years would be a good time for this. I will keep posted as I get more figured out.

Thanks to all of you=)

ART the owner of Reality homes is paying for grief councelling for both Dan and Dana, lots of people are pulling together to help the survivors out. The charity auction at Chuckwagon steak house will be dec 30th and will be to help defray funeral costs, and the remainder will go into a trust fund for his surviving child.

Janine, who you met if you were at our house warming is finding a place for them to live cheaply, and getting appliances and furniture donated, a couch and love seat, a stove and fridge for now.

If it is possible for any of you to bring up smokers and chill with us on the 6th (LITERALLY!!! it WILL be cold) whatever we can produce will be an additional blessing for the remaining family =) do any of you have experience with this kind of fund raiser ? (impromteiu) and know if we need to get permits or anything special to allow us to do this without getting shut down? any advertising ideas? any heads up and assistance in getting it done right will be MUCH appreciated.

Thanks you buncha wonderful people, I know we can do SOMETHING=) I just know it will be successful too!

Cindy,

The best way to do it is to not sell food.  The way we have done it in the past is that for a donation of say $10 - $15 they will get a plate of BBQ Food as a "Thank You".

Wish we could do more, this is such a sad event, especially this time of year.

Post by: Bearess on December 06, 2006, 06:22:33 pm
Thanks Mike =) we have had 2 stores now wanting us (AZBBQ) doing this in their lots! nothing like being wanted=) the tickest will be sold in the stores, and salvation army donation slips used we think. Bear thinks its too much to divide us up, the stores were hoping to get people trying both locations....mebbe cooking different things, depending on what we can get donated. I suppose it also depends on how many volounteer for this, no small thing.

We will have to post a poll as it gets closer to determine who all can participate, and a plan of action, we can get local radio support...no problem =)

PS!
when I say *post this* I mean on the windows of the merchants who have voiced a desire to have us in their parking lots...lol

we want to move forward with planning. Bear tree will provide the tents if we need them, and also the donation slips and raido spots, the Floor store will also gladly host us in their parking lot wich also contains many other stores.
Mike, can we post a poll please? how can we get more responses do you think?

Thanks!

Nice job Cindy, I like it alot.

I have posted the poll up top and I have sent out an e-mail to all of our members.  We do have some great members on here and I'm sure they will all step up to help in whatever way they can.

What do we need:

Food - What type?  (Pulled Pork, Ribs, Chicken, Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, Brats?... What should our menu be?)
BBQ's
Charcoal
Wood
Tents
Tables
Condiments
Napkins
Plates
Buns
Drinks

Who can supply what, who can come up and help with cooking, serving, taking donations, etc???

Please try to arrange it that you can make this event, it would be a great time to show that AZBarbeque is more than just competition BBQ or Tailgate parties.

Thanks in advance, we do greatly appreciate it.

Regards,

Mike

P.S. - Cindy, you will be the AZBarbeque Team leader on this event as you are closest to it from many different perspectives.  Just let us know what you need.

Thanks Mike, Thanks Mark and Gloria! Yes there is a bank set up and It is in the article posted up higher...I will go cut the exact words out and post it seperatley. (next post ) =D

Mike, Bear and I are going to go hit up Safeway and Walmart tomorrow and see what we can get donated! We are thinking IF we get enough people to split up to have the 2 locations, and they are right across the street form one another. The bare tree store (where I work) Is going to get really involved, I do not know beyond a locale what the floor store is going to do or is willing to do as that is a Bear contact. I DO know that the merchants are very excited to support our efforts.
I will wait to post the poster till we have some voulenteers set up, we might even be able to post team names, and make it some kind of fun, like people's choice for the participants.
Bare tree was so excited that they were thinking of how to get even more local family owned stores and enterprizes involved, more to come on that=)

LETS SHOW EM WHAT WERE MADE OF!!! (GOOD stuffs! grade A, its a pork fat thing....lol)

How you can help: A fund to help pay burial expenses of the two children and adult male killed in the Wednesday house fire in Lakeside has been set up at the Stockmen's Bank. The fund is named the Joe Garland Memorial Fund. A fundraiser auction is also planned but the exact time and date has not been set. See Tuesday's Independent for more information

PS...the fundraiser auction is Dec 30th at The cHUCKWAGON STEAKHOUSE.

PPS!
of COURSE, anyone who comes up to help is invited to our house after the Benefit!

Just wanted to be sure you all knew that!

and Mike, once we see what if anything will be donated we can decide what to cook, and how to handle the benefit, if we get variety, we can do a mini competition. If we get brats and buns, then we simply sell brats and buns...the alternative is to take some of the proceeds to pay ourselves back for the meat and other expenses of course, that would be a shame, but, might be something we have to consider ..eh?

we will post the update after we seek donations and see what happens!

Huggss!

Cindy,

Stockman's bank is not local here in the valley.  Is there anyway someone down here can make a donation?

Thanks for spearheading this for us, we will be there and make this event a success.

Cindy, Bear & Mike.. Cowpunchers Catering will be there with smoker in tow as well as a case of pork butts and enough sauce, buns and paper products to serve that case of Butts. If needed I will do some shopping here in town and bring stuff up if needed...
Jeri Lynn spoke with friends of ours (you remember Lisa Bostdroff the stage coordinator at the Lake) their company Phoenician Plumbing is going to send along a cash donation from what I am hearing... by the time I get done with them they will be coming up to help as well.
Maybe see if the casino or some local hotels will give us a discount rate for Saturday night so we can stay and simulate the local economy after the benefit... OR Find a bar ( maybe that steakhouse ) that will host a benefit night with a portion of their proceeds goes to the family... Maybe something as simple as a cover charge to get in ( which goes to the family)  then reasonably priced food & beverage for the bar... A Jan. 6th promo cant hurt their business up there.
Eddie Basha I hear is a huge supported of Lakeside... he keeps a home there doesnt he? He needs to be called and asked to help?
Check with the local Boy Scouts to see if they can provide help...It qualifys as "community service hours" working towards their rank of Eagle!

What else ???

Stockmen's Bank (928) 537-2440

240 S White Mountain Rd
Show Low, AZ 85901 - 6106
IN CARE OF Dana Christensen...just a note in the bottom line will do!

I am talking to Steve Schewerkt GM of the Hon-Dah Casino, and so far he is willing to go 59.00 a room (usually 99.00) I told him that I can not get him a room count as of yet, but thanked him, and am awaiting a call back on further details! YAHOO!
so far the only number for local Boy Scouts is out of order, even the operator was puzzled! That was such an awesome Idea too! I have not yet checked to see if there are girl scouts, they too can become Eagle -like =) I think they are called ....Umm I forget, been too long =P (yes I was one)

Soon as Bears Phone charges up we are off to see what the local stores will donate , if anything...wish us luck, Ill be back at you soon, and again

http://www.hon-dah.com/contact_us.html

this is the Local Casino!! The Hon-Dai Resort and Casino

we just got back from Safeway and Walmart and got very encouraging responses! Both will donate Gift certificates to avail us to buy what is needed, wether it be paper plates, meats, foil, or soda. We will be working through the Salvation Army to get donation slips and to collect these donations for the cause.

Bear has decided that it would just be TOO complicated to split the smokers into 2 parking lots, and its not worth the quarrel, so we will eb in the floor store parking lot which also hosts Big Lots, Sears, JCPenney, and lots of smaller enterprizes, the Bare tree store is just across the street, caddy corner a bit and I am going to ask them if they will be the pre~sale ticket location. (they would REALLY like some smokers in thier lot as well...)

I am going to update the flyers now, and Bear is calling the paper and radio station for free public service announcements. Later, after we get the salvation army on board we have the option to go see Big Lots, JCP and Sears for donations as well, and there is a caterer well known for his brisket we *can* ask to join us if we all feel comfortable with that Idea. His name is Kevin, and his company is Chow Hound catering. let me know how you feel about that before I make contact.

I want to thank :
Alayna of Walmart,
Tina and David of the Lakeside Salvation Army,
And Clint Ressig of the Lakeside Safeway for their very generous promise of support!!

and so it has begun=)

Cindy

That pretty much wraps up where we are at as of this moment. Hoping to hear from David and Tina from the salvation army to work out the contingencies for getting the donation gift cards from the grocers here as well as donation vouchers for BBQ plates.
THanks for all the help guys!!

Cindy, it's your gig, contact whoever you want.  The more, the merrier, besides, we won't be able to cook Brisket prior to the event, so if he can do that, great.

What would the rates be at the local Super 8, Best Western or Holiday Inn?  I thought I saw some of them between the Hon-dah and your place.

Let me know.

Thanks,

Mike

I'm with Mike, Even though I popped out the "casino thought" originally it is because that's the only place I know of. There are a lots of smaller places on your end of town that will work. Just let us know as the time gets closer what it is you need us to do.

Would it be a good idea to have a donation bucket at the holiday party this weekend? If there are going to be 40+ people there maybe we could raise a little money for the family as well. What do you guys think?

there are some prices Mike, I will look for some more links=) I think for the ammenities the casino will be a better deal for most!

http://www.mountainhaveninn.com/

we stayed at the Haven Inn and it is really a sweet place, lots of charachter, good rates, but small, I think there are a total of 10 rooms. very boutiquey with a great owner. there are no real ammenities like swimming pools or restaurants, but very comfy and clean. the web site is very user friendly, so take a romp!

We happened into Dana and Dan Christensen last night after the funerals, and they are extremly pleased with our efforts, beyond words. again, we can NOT say enough thank you's for the help and willingness to participate =) We also met Rich who cooks at the smokehouse and he will be bringing his HUGE smoker out to join us and is calling kevin from the Chow Hound caterers as well! we are meeting some terriffic people, and perhaps adding some new friends to the AZBBQ circle.

The family is grateful, and filled with warm fuzzies guys, and that is no small feat after what they have so recently gone thriough.

First we want to say from the Duncan family, that our prayers are with the family!

We will attend with our box truck and smoker.
Here is a list of the items we will bring:
1- Hot dog cart that serves 1200
     1- 6 ft. Grill
     1- 10x20 E-Z up tent
     4- large coolers
An assortment of serving and catering utensils
     4- Tabletop steamers
     5- Tables
25 foot smoker and with 6 jet burners for beans, corn, etc.(smoker can cook 950 pounds of product at once).  It also has a oven that cooks at 350 degrees.

I will also try to speak with my suppliers to see what can be donated as far as product.
Please keep in mind that we are fully insured and licensed to sell if we need to get a permit from the city ...if that helps.

Thanks and please let us know what we can do to help.

Thanks to everyone, we do appreciate your support.

Tom & Jennifer, since you are bringing up your big rig, I think we can do without ours.  Would it be OK if we all just helped out with your unit, we could do whatever you needed us to, cook, serve, whatever.  Just let me know.

Thanks again everyone.  You all ROCK!!!

Eddie's country store has committed to $100.00 of product, whatever we need! I am plugging away at other corporate sponsor types today (day off) and attempting to find out if we need any permits, Fire, or food, or city. It seems I have left messages at every office, but caught no one! LOL! Janine is trying to get a band to be a part of it, one that is all comprized of doctors at the hospital, its rumored they ar QUITE good, and have played at public events in the past.

Knowing that we rae operating during mostly daylight hours, and that we use mostly WOOD power, other than for the band if we get one do any of you think we will need a generator for power? We have not asked the floor store about using an outlet of theirs yet, and I need to try and locate one up here if we do. Caterers, how much power do you require (if any) for heating trays, lights ..etc?

 ;D

so far what we have done:
Visited Safeway in pinetop, they have committed
visited show low Walmart, they have committed
Called Eddie's country store, they have committed 100.00
called Shamrock distributors and left a message with Marsha Collins
Called the Flagstaff Pepsi Distributor (there is a local branch but all donations go theu Flagstaff) and left a message with LAura Davis
worked with Steve Johnson GM of White Mountain radio for the public service announcements and live feed on the 6th.
called and left a message with the local Salvation Army and Tina and David Sherman who are in charge there to collect the food  donation vouchers and give us the donation slips
Called and left a messsage with the local fire department regarding permits
called and left a message with the city of show low about permits
Called Basha's but they need a 6 week window to donate
Have had no luck getting thru to JCPenney, Big Lots or Sears so far....same with Home Depot

I have yet to call the party rental place to see what generators they have to rent and how much they cost as those places usually do not donate what they make a living renting...lol

I have yet to contact the local printers to see if they will donate the printer service for the Tastin tickets...

but the day is long and I have miles to go before I sleep...lol

Just heard back from David Sherman of the Salvation army, he says he will collect the vouchers from Safeway and Walmart, and also have the local shelter on hand if there is left over food after our event. YAY! he told me that small monetary donations do not require a tax deductable slip, but large ones do, he didn';t have the time to explain what *large* translates to...I asked about having a donation bin on site and he said, ONLY for donations of new things. The Salvation Army has rallied and given the family some money for new clothes, both the valley offices and the local ones up here as well. Janine has found a property that could be made into a rent to own for them if the cash situation is right (and I believe we will be helping with this =) ) That currently has an older building on it, liveable for now, and Dan her brother is a builder, so later he can build a stick built for them on the extra lot that is attached , fingers crossed on that one!

The Duncan's have voulenteered to coach me in about an hour regarding what permits and such, and how to go about this all more effeciently, THANK YOU TOM AND JENNIFER!!!!
since it is a parking lot I am assuming we will need some kind of permits...if I don't get call backs in a short while I will call the fire dept, and the city again=)

Tomorrow we will be going to the other businesses that share the part of the parking lot that the public will be using to park in to get permission for this. I will also see where we can get power from the floor store.

Looks like we have Pepsi on board! WOOHOO!

I have the fire marshall set to do a permit on the tent(s) and the fire extinguishers. the city needs a call back, and the permission slips are done, as well as a template for the silent auction and the tastin tickets. also need to get ahold of the city for permits for a public gathering, and the health dept, but then its all about the donations again!!!
I need help (advice or I will send a file to a more word savvy person) to make the tickets tiled for cutting!
Do we have a printer in the circle of BBQ friends?

∑ Potentially Hazardous Food shall mean any food which consists in whole or in part
of milk or milk products, eggs, meat, poultry, fish, shellfish, all cut melon, or other
material or synthetic ingredients capable of supporting rapid and progressive growth
of infectious or toxigenic microorganisms. Examples are hamburgers, tacos, hot
dogs, spaghetti, and chili. Cooked rice, potatoes, and bean are also considered to be
potentially hazardous because they will support rapid bacterial growth. All
potentially hazardous foods must be cooked to an internal temperature as follows:
∑ Poultry, Stuffed Meats, Stuffings containing meatÖÖÖÖÖÖÖ...165O F
∑ Ground BeefÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖ..155O F

∑ Reheating- All potentially hazardous foods that have been cooked and then cooled,
shall be rapidly reheated to 165O F or more throughout within 30 minutes, before
being served or placed in a hot food storage unit. Crock pots, steam tables, or hot
holding units are not approved for cooking or reheating of foods.
∑ Thawing- Foods are to be thawed in a refrigerated unit at temperatures not to exceed
41O F, under cold running water, or in the microwave as a continuous cooking
process.
∑ Holding- Potentially hazardous foods must be stored at temperatures below 41O F or

be labeled as such and be provided with the manufacturerís use guidelines. Chemical test
strips are required to verify the proper concentrations are reached and maintained. Store all
chemicals ìlow and awayî from foods.
∑ Wiping cloths/towels used for wiping down counters and table tops must be clean and used

Note: It has been found that flies will avoid surfaces which have been wiped down with
bleach solution.
∑ Dishwashing- Use disposable cups and plates for food service. Keep your hands off the
food contact surfaces and never re-use a single service item. Use 3 adequately sized (fits
your largest cooking utensil) containers, plastic buss tubs work very well. Wash equipment

Please order up some warm weather for the 6th....  ;)

Its been nice the last few days, clear skies, and occasional beautiful snow, but it has been melting because of the sunny days. I think if it isnt WARM, it will at least be beautiful =) a good enough comprimize?

The other real positive is that if anyone is cold at any particular time they can go defrost inside the floor store. we will be selling the tastin tickets (or taking donations) inside as well as doing the silent auction in  there.

I am running out of time to get many more donations of items, but will start in again tuesday...I am off all week before the event from the looks of it, but that always remains to be seen=P I know Tom was working on getting things donated as well, what if any bread products do we need? and I am going to have to call Eddies market tomorrow and order whatever we need from them as well...I am working but ...will find the time. ( we have 100.00 to use there, any suggestions people)

THINK WARM!
Its been in the 50's daytime =)

PS!
almost forgot, since nobody answered my questions about the checklist, and frankly I am concerned about that....
I went ahead and talked to David Sherman about using his mobile kitchen van. he said yes.

If you SEE this and have the time PLEASE go over the checklist and assure me that we have it covered !!!!! PLEASE!!!!

if not, we need to act fast to get it covered so our permits will be issued, and I can not begin to guess...

HELP!

And thanks =)

Cindy,  I went over it, and I am pretty sure that Tom with Whiskey Ranch has all that covered, but I will get with him prior to the event and verify.  It's pretty much common with all the events we do.

Thanks Mike, I called Tom tonight as well...I was just too nervous! He of course assured me that all was Ok, and we also have the mobile kitchen as well from the Salvation army=) (I dont think they will get silly about the sneeze gaurd...but who knows?)

One thing we agreed on heartily was the need for a general menu so that we can all focus on getting those specific items together. Tom will be putting that together early next week and I think posting it. We will then need to get going a list of who is bringing what so we can fill in the holes, and spend what donation monies we do get wisley.

Thank you all for the hand holding and reassurances =) I NEED them!

somehow I was thinking we were down to a single week...SHEWWW, glad to have that wrong  ::)

LOL...

still, time is short, and it passes far too fast for my tastes! it will be here before we can believe it!

Greetings from Cowpunchers CateringÖ Cindy & Bear, looks as though things are coming together well. I actually met Tom Duncan last week at the woodpile (Berry Bros.) and had a chance to chat about a few things. Here in no particular order is what we are willing and able to do. IF a comment is directed towards you specifically please let me know the answer.
1) Yes, Cowpunchers catering meets the requirements for the County Checklist.
2) Yes, we are willing to bring our smoker up as it could be used for a warmer if needed or even grill (looking for the final menu from Tom)
3) BUT, if it isnít going to be needed or used I will forgo hauling it and bring a trailer instead that could haul perhapsÖ
a) Wood that Tom & I were talking about at the woodpileÖ Tom needs to get some wood hauled up.
b) EZ ups Öwe have 2 additional 10 x 10 covers with sidings if needed.
c) Additional handwashing station
d) Tables? We have 2- 8í / 2-6í / 4-4í ??? Are you going to try to create a seating area?
e) Beverage Container. We have several 10 gallon and several more 5 gallon Insulated Cambro containers for Coffee or HOT Chocolate service?
4) Am I reading all this correctly? Is there going to be only ONE place in town that we are going to be selling BBQ? And all mobile kitchens will be there?
5) Phoenician Plumbing AKA Lisa & Larry Bostdorf will be coming up to help and have already given me a check for $60. (I told them for a case of Pork Butts) but it can be used for whateverÖ Sauce, buns, Rumplemintze ( to warm the servers )
6) Hours of operation?
7) Perhaps all the members that are coming up can make a couple gallons of their signature (own recipe) BBQ sauce so there is a variety to choose from?
8) What? What am I missingÖ?
9) Still need a generator? I think Phoenician Plumbing has a couple that could be used up there?
10) here is another thought too... Selling it to go by the pound... for someone that isnt hungry give them an option to take some home for dinner or even freeze it for the Superbowl... $8. per pound?

Warm regards

Cindy, we will not be needing the guest room you offered. I didnt know at the time that other plans were in the works.. Thank you

Hey Bob and Jeri Lynn!

You read that right, we will only be at the floor store parking lot, all of us =) We have great visibility from the road, and Pepsi is making us a banner to hang as well! I had not thought about making seating at all, do you think it would even get used? Its gunna probably be chilly, at the least ...hehehehe. The parking lot is 175' x 50', we have not yet checked to see if the power on the light pole works (BAD US) I do think we may want a generator. the hot drinks sound like a VERY good idea!

My goal this week is to nail down people who have verbally committed to $$ donations and find out what the $$ means. Today Shamrock foods called and offered $200.00 in kind meats!! YAHOO! and we do have $100.00 at Eddie's country store. the $$ from both Safeways up here are a mystery as well as from Walmart and neither so far have contacted salvation army...*grumble*

We will be serving from noon till we run out of food (or 6pm) WE will have live feed radio for a part if not all of it and the theatres have been flash advertizing between flicks. I will continue to pursue advertizing, I think that the chamber of commerce has us on the calendar as well.

the by the pound idea is a great one, but since we are not technically *selling* we will have a hard time dictating the price, I guess we can *suggest* that a donation of $20.00 or more can choose a pound of meat ...what does Tom think? I have never been a caterer =P lol

so far for the silent auction we have:

A DVD player
2 oil / lube etc changes
a mystery piece of furniture, I think it will be an oak rocker
something or several things from the casino!
hoping for more to step up...and working on gift certificates from some local eateries.

I am thinking that we get the big bulk hot dog packages that Safeway sells with our donation, we can get the buns donated by Holsum, and skip the burgers for pulled pork and chicken...what you think? the hot dogs I am speaking about are actually polish sausages and come in spicy and not...bigger than hot dogs, so more exciting hehehe...

the radio station was tossing about a live band and I need to follow up on that, no idea where that went if ANY where...

does everyone have a place to stay then?

Thank you guys SOOO much=) we spent Christmas eve with Dana, and she is very excited about the generosity, and the hope we are giving her =)

THANK YOU!!!!

c) Additional handwashing station

***

David Sherman will be letting us use his mobile kitchen for the day, I understand its in a van...will that work for the washing station?

the floor store will let us use their facilities as well so we do not need to think about porta potties (sheeeww!)

if it is terribly cold for anyone we will be taking turns taking donations in the store, a chance to defrost, and the silent auction is in there as well...OH!!!
and I forgot, the floor store is donatiing 2 area rugs as well for the auction...and may decide to donate a portion of the days sales, that one is still out there...but not the rugs, those are IN!

now to get the floor plans ready for emailing to the city, health and fire departments =)

If you need, We do have a shamrock account that can be used?

We are getting 200.00 worth of any kind of meats we want from shamrock. I think you have Pork butts Bob, right? I was going to ask for 200 in chickens, or polish sausages (the assortments on the menu)  Eddies is donating 100.oo in whatever we need, but I have to commit by Tuesday ... GADZOOKS, why did the whole world take off the week after Xmas? lol...I believe we have buns covered by Holsum, whatever we ask for he will try to get. Walmart and both Safeways are out there with nobody knows what...could be as bad as 10.00 each (GAH) or as good as ...well who knows, they all took off TOO! of course!

Want me to take over the HOT beverage thingy?  Hot chocolate by the glass?

Please do take over the hot stuff=) want us to get the supplies from Wally world or Safeway?
WHAT?
I know you will have more info as it becomes availableÖ until then Ií

Here is my take so far and I may be wrong.

Pepsi...5 broken cases donated
Holsum...breads
Eddies...100.00  of what we ask for but we need to let him know what SOON
Safeway...??? yes something, what we do not know (2 stores)
Walmart...?? Yes something, what again we do not know yet
Shamrock...200.00 in meats , we need to let them know what we want soon

I am hoping to get the multi pack sausages from safeway the supplies we may need and possibly sides and hot drink goods from Walmart, Chickens from Eddies and Shamrock, Butts By Bob, Buns By Holsum, 5 cases asst, cold soft drinks by Pepsi, mobile Kitchen by Salvation Army, Generator by Bobs buddies, BBQ accessories and rigs / tents /tables/ Bob and Tom.

I wish there was one of me that was not working, and also drove to get this done right.

we will have an event, it will be as good as a few short weeks can make it, and lots of loving caring people doing the best they can=)

did I miss any questions or answers Bob? Please tell me if there is anything I NEED to get done ASAP, other than what I know needs doing=)

Permits city/ health/ fire
donations clarified and followed thru by friday

Bear & Bearass.. we regret to inform you that we will not be able to attend.

Sike! Hey, getting ready to leave the house and got word that Larry & Lisa really will not be joining us but I still have their generator and ain't giving it up. Lisa awoke this morning with something none us us need or want so I agreed that she should stay home. Tried to get Larry to come but he is going to nurse her back to health.

Couple thoughts? Since we are not expecting people to sit and eat are we serving in "to go" containers? 3 compartment if screwing with beans? or do you have a big ass roll of aluminum foil wereas we can wrap the food?

We should be rolling into town at about 38 degrees tonight (9 ish) and will give a call to see if the Totties are hot or the beer is cold. I know you have been workin your ass off and if you just want to go to bed early don't hesitate to tell us that too when we call.

I just could NOT go to bed without saying this

YOU ALL ROCK!
I could not possibly say thank you enough...seriously!

we brought inn a little over 2000.00 today, and there are still the proceeds to tally up from the floor store as they are donating a portion of their sales. we were all surprized by 2 radio stations doing live feed, one paid, one voulentter, incredible! The people we met today were sincere, giving. loving, and made me (my NEW nickname is the wimp) cry several times withamazement at the capacity of some people.

I must say that Dana made one comment that touched me deeply. she said that she had about given up on the human race, and then we all happened.
nuff said=D

job WELL done, and with love.

thank YOU ALL!!!!!

Cindy,

Thanks for the kind words, and from AZBarbeque, I too have to say that everyone here on our site rocks.

We had Bob & Jeri Lynn from CowPuncher's Catering up there cooking and serving.

We had Tom & Jennifer from Whiskey Ranch BBQ up there with their incredible BBQ rig cooking and serving.

We had Mark, Steve, Myself, Bear & Cindy from the web site up there helping serve, take donations, do Radio Station Promo's and lots more.

Everyone did a great job and really showed how the great people of this site can rise to support such a great cause for such a tragic situation.

Thanks again everyone, we will be posting some pictures soon.

As Cindy Said "You Guys Rock!!!"
