• Dickey's BBQ Eating Contest: October 25, 2008

Hey all, I was just contacted by Dickey's BBQ regarding a Competitive Eating Contest that they are hosting at their new Scottsdale Restaurant next Saturday at 1 pm.

This is located on Scottsdale & Shea.

I would personally like to invite all of our great AZBarbeque members to join me out there and show our support.  It will be a great time to show the nation how great the state of Arizona is and how great our BBQ Club is.

Please plan on joining me out there, I plan on being there by Noon on Saturday and please wear your AZBarbeque shirt if you have one.

If anyone is up to competing in this contest, let me know, AZBarbeque might be up for sponsoring an eater in this one.  I do have the entry forms if anyone wants to compete, so e-mail, PM or post here and I will get it to you.  Are you feeling "Hungry"??

Any other members planning on joining us over at this BBQ Restaurant to watch this event?

We would love to have a good showing and show the film crew and Dickey's how great AZBarbeque is and how well we support the local BBQ Community.  If we want them to support us, we have to show them our support.

Hope to see lots of you out there on Saturday.  It should be a fun event..

Birthday party my son is going to and I really can't eat that much pulled pork.  If it was at the one at Happy Valley, might make it.  THat is a little closer to my house.

I don't think I will be competing in the event, although that does seem like fun.

We will just be there representing AZBarbeque and recruiting new members...    Oh yea, also trying to get on TV...

Yes, I was down there with my folks and Mr. Smoker showed up with his wife. 

It was a fun contest, made me full just watching it.

You are not going to believe this, but I FORGOT my camera... I know, I know..

The lady from corporate Dickeys took video, so when she posts it, I will post a link.

We might need to think about adding something like this to our cook-offs. 

Dickey's was a great host today, Mitch, the owner is always glad to see us and is really a great guy.  If you get a chance to stop in there, please do and tell them AZBarbeque sent you.

What a fun time,i sure would hate to be one of those three finalist tonight. Glad to finally meet George and Winnie.

How many did the winner eat?

First round of 8 minutes, 2 ate 7 sandwiches the eventual winner ate 7 1/2.

Final round, winner ate 5, second ate 3, third ate 2.

Great time and I'm sure it's a lot harder than it looks.  Heck, I'm full just from watching them..
