AZBarbecue 1st annual escape the heat camping trip

We went to Knoll Lake last year with the entire extended family and some friends with animals (about 22 people overall and 5 cars and an Airstream) and we just took over a bunch of sites.  There was no fee required, just grab what you can get.  I don't know how anyone feels about 4th of July, but I have that entire week off and could go a little early and try to snag all the areas we need. Just a thought...

That's fine, as long as we have a heads up for the date, we are in...summer is camping/fishing/kaying season for us!

I am thinking Scott's resevior would be fine. There aren't any huge group sites, but there are plenty and all are close to each other. The camping is free, there is a dumpster, and outhouses. It will accomodate small RV's. It has some good bass fishing, great catfishing, well stocked with trout, and plenty of mud bugs. It is only a couple miles outside of town, and there is a tool rental place near by that rents aluminum fishing boats.
It's first come first served, but I think we can work out taking over camping sites.

Hey Bear,

Mark and I are on the same page with camping.  But, my toy hauler is only 20 ft, so it might make the cut??  This sounds fun and I would like to throw our hat into the camping ring.

thanks

there are a few campsites on the roadside that you may be able to get in a larger camper. I'll swing over there tomorrow and have a look see....and maybe do a little fishing while I am there.

There are a few campsites that will fit RV's, plus a couple tents at Scott's. Only 4 campsites we're open when I went by.
Fool's hollow lake has fee's, but there are lots of campsites, and some that will fit 40' rv's. Also they have all the amenities, and campsites can be reserved. Here's a link to more info on Fool's Hollow Lake.

White Mountains?  I'm only aware of that name in the northeast, near New Hamshire.  Where abouts are you talking?

Tops, The White Mountains are in NE Arizona.

Fools Hollow has sites that will take up to 45' RV and trailers. They have showers, running water (potable), boat ramps, fish cleaning stations, ramadas (will be monsoon season, so a good idea), picnic tables (great for dumping a bunch of veggies and mudbugs on newspaper), fire pits, etc. etc.
Also the lake has large and small mouth bass, catfish, sunfish, bluegill, northern pike, and trout. For those fishing and getting licenses, a trout stamp is required to fish there as with all white mountain waters, which aren't owned by the White Mtn. Apache Tribe.
The dates will be July 25-27.
