Well we are ALL hoping this Covid thing will be over soon!
Today we announce that we are in the process of organizing the
2021 Porkin' on the River BBQ Competition.

YES! It is early! But with the new precautions that must be taken it will take longer to complete.
We have 2 tentative dates March 5th & 6th or March 12th and 13th
Stay tuned for more information.

It seems that Nevada is not opening up as fast as we were anticipating for large crowds.
We are still watching and waiting to see if the state is going to lift some restrictions.
Maybe after the election "Lock Downs" will ease up.
Date is set for the first weekend in March so keep your fingers crossed!
Wish I had better news but that is where we are at right now.
Remember,
You can have THOUSANDS get together to Protest but you can't get together and BBQ!
Get Out and VOTE 2020!

Good News!
I received a call yesterday and we have a meeting set for the first weekend in November!
Both myself and the Laughlin River Lodge want this Competition to take place.
The Laughlin River Lodge is under strick Covid guidelines as are ALL the casinos in Nevada which includes the casinos being FINED for "personal violations" done by patrons.
We both believe that restrictions will be lifted to an acceptable level of public participation.
We will meet to set up when team registrations can start.
PLEASE REMEMBER;
There are a lot of aspects to this that are out of our control. When we do open for registration you will most likely have a short time to register.
So make plans now for the first weekend in March 2021 to compete, judge or just attend and sample some great BBQ!

Hello to all!

We are moving forward with the 2021 "Porkin' on the River" BBQ Competition!
Competition date is scheduled for March 5th and 6th at the Laughlin River Lodge in Laughlin Nevada.

At this time Clark County Nevada is only allowing public gatherings of 250 people. We are hoping that this will be increased.
The "Porkin' on the River" BBQ Competition is dependent on public participation and BBQ Sampling revenue generated.
Without this revenue we can not afford to do this competition since we do not rely on donations from outside sources as so many other competitions do.

We are looking to see if Teams are interested in competing.
If you are please post and let us know to show support.

The Southern Nevada Health Dept. has classified Clark County by "Zones".
Laughl;in Neveda is in a "Yellow" zone which means they will not approve an outdoor gathering of the size we need.
I will continue to monitor the SNHD to see if Laughlin gets classified as a Green Zone which "should" mean the competition will be approved.
Keep checking back.
MERRY CHRISTMAS to EVERYONE!
