4th of July Shootout - Durango, CO

Discussion started on

Mrs. McFrankenboo

Out of curiosity, who will be making the drive up to Durango for this comp?  It will be the first year for us and I know some of you already have it on you calendar so we'd like to know who will be joining us!  I can't see how it can be bad when the average high is 89 degrees in July?  I'm looking forward to actually sitting down to watch some fireworks without sweating to death!

Taking the whole family for a week of fun, and no burning sun in CO. Oh yeah, and there is a BBQ competition in the middle of that week, honey/kids!

Well, I was there in '07 when it was 104 degrees on the street....so it can get perty hot..... but I will be there. Hopefully that was a fluke.

It a great venue, in Old Downtown Durango -- walking disatance to shops, foods and the park is right there. If your vending bring lots of food, the vendors alway's seem busy. Mark goes out of his way to make the cookers feel welcome --- did I forget  fireworks and the train
See you there -- were working on 25 teams ---

Just don't be making any late night phone calls......

The phantom of a security guard with a bullet hole in his forehead has frequently been seen in a phone booth in Durango using the telephone. In any event, it indisputably is a creepy ghost that you wouldn't wish to encounter before sunrise.

I think you'll enjoy this contest.  Mark and his bunch put on a good event and if the fireworks this year are anything like last year, well, it'll be great!

I already have my package and it says set up facing the street, seems to be a good indication that they'll have the street closed.     Hopefully no gully washers this year but it does seem to rain every year right after awards.   Even the year it was un-holy hot.   Poor Colorado folks were freaking out at 103 two years ago.

We'll be camping up at Vallecito only going into town for the actual event and on occasion a Dairy Queen run.  Actually heading up on 6/29.

See ya'll there.
