If you can wait, my place should be open by the 2nd week in January. I'd be honored to open up on a Sunday for the event. My only issue is space indoors. I think we're going to have room for around 20 inside but we'll have a ton of room outside.

I'm in favor of having it at Scott's new place.

What better place than a new restaurant owned by one of our own. I can wait for Scott's place to open.

Smitty, it's just west of the 143 on University. It's in that business area about 3 miles west of ASU and about 5 from downtown Phx. Our focus is lunch only so I'm not worried about there being little to no residential in the area. We also want to use only offsets so it's been a serious pain finding a location 300' away from any residential buildings. The place has an 850 SF building and two shade structures. One structure will house two large offsets while the other one will have seating. We plan on bringing in about 6 or 7 trees and a few shade sails with picnic tables for additional outdoor seating. The building is a stand alone and it has a small kitchen in place so it should be a fairly easy process with the MCHD. At least I think it will be with my numerous talks with the county. I figure we'll be able to seat ~ 20 - 25 inside. I'm ridiculously excited but right now. Our lease was signed about 3 or 4 weeks ago but I'm in a holding pattern waiting for our public hearing on the 14th to get our use permit for outdoor cooking from the COP. If we don't get that, well, I'm back to square one.

I would vote for waiting for Scott's place to open. I can't think of any better place I would like to be.

I like the idea of holding it at Scott's place as well. It sounds terrific! ;D Even if it's not up and running because of rules & regs, we have enough folks to put together one heckuva pot luck. ;) ;) 8) 8) :P

Sounds good to me we have too much catering and several vending events in Nov. and Dec. hard to get away during the holidays.

Sounds great! I'll get with Mike after my public hearing about a date. Any Sunday after the second weekend in January should work.

That is Awesome!! Thank you Scott for doing this. I think we should try to bring in some business for him too. I will let every one I know about the new BBQ joint opening up in Tempe!! Do you have some details or Grand Opening info for us to pass on Scott? Maybe Pool Kings (or if you need some rubs ;)...Swimmin' in Smoke) can help sponsor your new BBQ adventure!
