Congrats on the son graduating but that sucks you won't be cooking.
-
Home game! Looking forward to this one. Thanks Sam's.

Get signed up early. The gilbert contest last year filled up in a couple of hours.

He will be at the graduation. Just like I'll be at his sons graduation from ASU this year. Our kids were in school from the 4th grade on, and they received their Eagle Scout awards together.
-
OK - Cool. He has a pretty smart son! ;)
GO DEVILS!! >:D
-
They graduate kids from that school?

Registration begins for Tucson - KCBS Sam's Club 6pm (8 EST) on Wed Jan 18th. Who's in? I hope to see a bunch of AZ teams at this one. 30 teams, 10-G's, and a chance to advance...nice!
The rules say registration begins at 8 EST, I emailed KCBS whether that meant 8am or 8pm and they sent me a surly email saying 8pm and that I didn't read it right. I'll probably call tomorrow to verify.
"3. To ensure fairness for all KCBS teams, a registration period will start Jan. 18 at 8:00 EST. All local contests will be open for registration during this time. Registration will remain open for each event until 30 competing spots are confirmed for each 25 local qualifiers and the wait list of 10 teams is full. Registration will then close for that event. "
I dunno...but we are still in. Hope it's pm.
To those who want in, make sure you are a KCBS member or it probably won't let you in, so get your membership ASAP! Who's in?
-
We are in!
-
Passing on entry this year, but going to signup and judge. That will be fun to try some good Que...
-
We're completely in the air about this one. Bekke is due April 28th and the regional is the week after that so the regional would definitely be a no go since I enjoy living. If we do the local I'll be on my own and showing up late. Does anyone know who the organizer is for this event?
-
2 Sons will be in for the Tucson event. Matt is a KCBS member.
-
We are in!
-
Do I dare ask which event is every one going to try for?
Tucson
Las Vegas
-
Probably skipping it this year... good luck to those who enter...

If we get entered we are in.

As I was told last year, there is no chance to show up late. "If your pit and head cook are not setup by 4pm Friday, You will be disqualified!" I still chuckle when when remembering the promoter asking me which is more important, Your Job or this Contest? And you need to tell me riigght Now! That silly goose wouldn't even give me any time to decide.... ;)

Was that MMA Creative? If so, dont feel bad we had issues with them as well.

This will be our first KCBS event. Anything we need to know that's unique to KCBS going into this one?

Know what greens are legal to put in the box and make sure to visually check to make sure that your brisket and ribs are sliced completely through. The latter isn't specific to KCBS, but it is a mistake that even seasoned teams have made.
Best of luck to you guys.

Hey ill be there, anyone need an extra hand? I've got 2

Thanks crash, I'll double check the rules and with the coordinator before we prep boxes. I can't imagine why they wouldn't be sliced all the way through so we could be doing something less than ideal with our turn ins.
-
Good luck to you guys and gals. I hope you all have your best cooks ever. It was great to see you all last week in Vegas. Boy am I glad I have the weekend off.

When it comes down to "Nut" cuttin time you'd be surprised what goes wrong :'(

This should be a good event. Sam's Club events, last year anyways, was a pretty serious event. Everyone wants to move on to the regionals and it's much quieter than normal events. I remember hanging out with Kris and Neil at 10pm and it was as if everyone was asleep. It was weird but not as weird as how quiet it was at regionals. Good luck everyone and travel safe on Friday.
-
The rain all night long didn't help the socializing either.
Good luck to everyone competing.

Man that was miserable for us EZ-Upers.
-
Rain and wind, dont forget. IT was a cook I did not enjoy and based on my scores, neither did the judges. :D
Good luck to all. I'm taking the family to the Giant's D-Back's games that weekend. Never been to a game on Easter, but beats cooking for the in law's.
-
You guys think YOU had it bad.... Try vending out at Country Thunder during all of that ??? The one upside was watching all those drunk 20 somethings slipping and sliding in all the mud and the girls still rocking their daisy dukes and halter tops. :D 8)
Looks to be decent weather for both events this year, good luck to all.
