This from the AZBBQA website:

The Taylor Corn & Que Arizona State BBQ Championship!

Presented by: Eurofresh Farms.

The Taylor Corn & Que is an official Arizona State Championship BBQ competition and is put on by The Arizona Barbeque Association. It is also the longest running state championship contest. This year the contest will be held on Friday the 29th and Saturday the 30th of August. The championship is KCBS sanctioned and will attract barbecue enthusiasts from all over Arizona as well as neighboring states. As in previous years this contest is held at the Taylor Rodeo Grounds in Taylor, Arizona located in cool Nothern Arizona.

Competitors will complete in four categories, Pork Ribs, Chicken, Brisket, Pork and have the option of competing in "anything but." The championship will have winners in each category in addition to a grand champion of the entire event. The title of grand champion is a qualifier and entitles the winning team to an invitation to the Kansas City American Royal Competition and Jack Daniel's Competition; both of which are national events and require state championship titles to enter. The contest must have 25 teams to officially be a qualifier.

This year there will be a Eurofresh Salsa Festival contest as well as a BBQ sauce contest. Both of those events will be held on Friday night August the 29th.

I'm really happy to see that this event will be taking place again this year.  We had a great time there last year even though our showing was less than stellar.  It is also one of the events that a lot of our comrades from New Mexico will be attending and it will be great to see them again.  Maybe we'll get lucky and Jim will break out the weedburner again!

Edited to add that this event is already listed on the KCBS website with Grant & Jeni Ford as KCBS Reps.

Just a heads up -- the weed burner is portable now ---- smaller bottle mounts on my back and I'm working on twin burners --- watch those beards and fluffy carny animals

Hey all, this is a great event, we were there 2 years ago and provide there is not an ASU Home game that weekend, we will be there this year.

Great time and a great community.

Strange that it says they will give discounts to AZBBQA members as I was told that they are no longer renewing or taking memberships.  Wonder if that has changed..  Still can't log on though, so can't post it there.
