That prize fund seems odd to me...why do you give a prize for Runner Up if you already have given a prize to GC, RGC and then 1st, 2nd and 3rd place?  You're talking over $200,000 in prize money alone.  I can only imagine what the friggin entry fee would be for that one!  There isn't even an entry or anything that would say how much the entry fee is!

Miss Bo you are right! It must be $5,0000 entry fee, did you see the first prize for the rib eating contest. I might have a better chance in that? :D

I saw it posted somewhere that it was a Million Dollar purse..

If that's correct, we will be going to it, count on that...

Fly fishing, a BBQ competition, and in Montana?  There is no way I'm missing this one if the prize money is even close to what is advertised.  It may be time for AZ teams to pack up a semi, jump on a bus, and head out.

Wow, nice prize pool!  Even if the entry is high might be good to pool resources and really bring the AZ A-Team.  Oh, and I'm a real good dishwasher

We're applying to vend it, Lewistown is really nice that time of year (not now unless you like to freeze solid), pretty drive. I'm guessing with a purse like that (we'll see if it's registered that way through KCBS) you're gonna see teams from all over the nation.
If you compete there either rent an RV or find lodging SOON if you want to stay nearby.
See ya there!!

If interested, go to the web site and leave a message. They are snail mailing out comp packages this week to interested teams. FYI. We are giving it a look see...who knows, might be worth the trip! Seems to be 22 hrs from Tucson.

Actually send me your pre-entry fee you all and I will make sure we all get in it as priority teams. I am looking to get $125 from a hundred of you to secure the event for all of us.  THe General gave me the authority to collect the fees in advance. Trust me I live in UT!

I seem to remember "some"  ::) doubt about another comp not long ago, does Q.C. ring a bell with anyone? Look how that one turned out! I will reserve judgement until more info is available and remain hopeful since it is a nice area to be that time of the year.

This is from the KCBS meeting minutes from last weeks meeting:

Wayne Lohman made a motion to require Lewiston, Mt. to provide financial security and to secure the deficiencies of sanctioning within 5 business days.  In the event the organizer of the Lewiston, Mt contest fail to come into compliance, within 5 business days, then KCBS sanctioning will be withdrawn.  The motion was seconded by Don Harwell.

Vote:
10  yes, 0 no, 0 abstentions
The motion to obtain financial security and to cure the deficiencies of sanctioning as to the Lewiston, Mt. contest, passes.

I guess we should know this week if the deficiencies are cleared up.

I understand the entry fee is now at $1500 and the sanctioning body is the Big Sky BBQ Association BSBA  ::)

If that is in fact the case it sounds like their chasing entry fees to pay for the prizes. :(   Is that legal?

There are some serious sanctioning problems with this contest. The KCBS BOD is working on them, but personally, I would not make a financial commitment at this time.

Lewiston MT. pulled from the KCBS calendar, knew it was too good to be true and possibly a big scam and headaches to teams.

I'd sent a message to the editor of the local paper, they're looking into it as well. Pity, if true it sure would've been fun!
