I think these are terrible (that is the general consensus among the folks I have talked to).   Makes us look like Ohio State.

Fortunately it appears this is a one game deal to kick off the new nike tech.

Those unis are disgusting.  But I guess every Nike-affiliated team that has won a basketball national championship get the same uni.  When will ASU be wearing theirs? :D :D :D

Glad it will only be for one game.

Question: Do UA fans refer to the team as "Zona"? Or does that raise the hackles like San Franciscans hearing "Frisco"?

I was wondering how long it would take a UofA fan to bring ASU into one of thier topics. Not very long. They just can't get off of our nut$!!  ;D

We use the term "Zona" on occasion.

Mark,

I hardly ever hear anyone refer to UA as "Zona".  It certainly isn't commonplace.  I mean "Bear Down Zona Zona" just doesn't have the same panache.  But it doesn't raise hackels like it does hearing people in San Diego refer to everyone from Arizona as "zonies".

The student football section is named Zona Zoo. The uni's look like Ohio State, but aside from that I don't think they look too bad. Good thing its just temporary.

I see. I just hadn't really heard the term before. Thanks all for enlightening me. :)

It's hard to see what the uniforms will look like on a brightly lit court since the photo is so dramatically dark. I didn't even notice the screened-down big UA logo on the back. Pretty subtle. It might just read as sweatiness. Interesting that they use a "shooter sleeve" as an accessory. Nike is all about setting trends. They faded the numbers on the ASU football jerseys and it just looked like bad silkscreening to me.

Funny about the Ohio State comments. The Suns changed their uniforms a couple of years ago and I'm still not used to them being predominantly orange. :-[

other than the Zoo, I never hear the term, and most I know hate it. (All due respect Dan)

Why would you hate it? I heard it more while I was a student, so maybe it's more of a student thing. I don't hate the uni's and the name doesn't bother me. I've never asked anyone if they hate the name Zona or the uniform, guess it's never come up. If I can i'll try to snag one for my 14yo. Just got tickets to ASU VS. UA game in Tempe. Should be fun. Its all good.

Honestly couldn't tell you why, just one of those things.   "Zona" seems like the thing that people from California would call us.  Just never liked it.  Plus, to me, our Basketball brand is "Arizona".  We should be proud of the full name.
