I haven't been on the site in a few days but it looks like the Holiday Bowl beat down (33 - 0) thread has been deleted. What happened? I didn't even get a chance to sound off on this awesome topic. It guess that thread had no chance of surviving with this crowd just like the Mildcats had no chance against Nebraska. Sorry I had to get at least one jab in!! >:D

Smitty, it did get out of hand and a few took it way too serious. We moved it off line as it was not productive.
We have all sorts of different fans on here, ASU, UofA, NAU, Texas, Alabama, Oregon, USC, etc. but in the end, we are still all just one big BBQ Family.
Those of us who post here often and who come out to events and know everyone, we know it's all just in good fun, but those that have not yet, think it's all serious and it causes issues.
Remember, we need to think about how things look to first time visitors, sponsors & lurkers and keep it friendly. We want to grow the club, not turn it into a "Good Ole Boys Group" like some of the other BBQ clubs & Associations. ;)

I got ya Mike. That's too bad that some people think that way. We are all just having fun and I think what makes this BBQ Club work so well is that we are friends and enjoy each others company eventhough we like to give each other crap about their football team, BBQ, or anything else we can make fun of!!

well, it seems that some folks are not as thick skinned as the rest. and i must admit that i too can get caught up in the moment of jabs flying back and forth. i think a lot of it has to do with our natural competitiveness, after all we are competitive cookers(mostly). it is sad that things became too carried away, and were not able to be reversed.
i can only take comfort in knowing that my Longhorns will do their best to not embarrass the tide when game time comes. but then if it turns out the other way, i say good for Alabama.
hey smitty i know what you mean about making fun of folks. on the other hand, it is rare to find such a supportive group of folks. bbqrs in general also seem to show their appreciation and kindess as easily as they share their jabs and jokes.

I know what you mean - I'm glad that the thread was deleted before I saw it. I would probably be on DSP with you as long as you were on the right side! >:D

I think the only one that truly got carried away on the "33-0" thread took his football and went home. Everyone else had factual posts that werent directed personally at anyone.
