Title: No salt brined Turkey
Post by: SmokinFatboy on November 19, 2011, 06:58:05 am
Wow I haven't been on this site in forever. Sorry for my lapse, but been spending most of my time on a weight loss site down 60lbs only 85 more to go, so I don't fire up the smoker too often as pork butss stand no chance to get portioned out before I attack!  :'( ;D ??? :P :o

Simmered Kiwi, Pear, Chili powder, Garlic and apple vinegar, then soaked the turkey in it all night before popping on the smoker this morning. Will take pics later if all goes well.

This is a dry run for next week. Ya that's it, a dry run, that's the story.

Welcome back and congrats on the weight loss. ;D

Your brine sounds quite intriguing. Distinctive combination of flavors. Please let us know how it turns out.

I have some Trader Joe's spiced cider that I'm thinking of injecting into my turkey, but I reckon my family will object. My wife is a snow-white meat type and would think that any coloration means it miraculously transformed into dark meat.
