I know we need to refrigerate the turkey in the brine BUT my refrigerator won't have room for a large turkey in brine.  What about using a cooler?  Anybody done this?

You can do it in a cooler Bernie, just use ice to keep it cool..

I bought one of those orange drink coolers at Home depot.  Fits a turkey well and does not take up fridge space.  Just don't use the cooler for drinks again.   ;D

Bernie, we use a NEW 5 gallon paint bucket with lid. I wash it out then sometimes I'll line it with a rinsed out garbage bag. Back in MT I could put in the garage to stay warm (outside it would freeze solid) but when we did 'em during the summer I'd put it in the laundry room and top off with ice checking it in the AM and before bed to add ice if needed.
