Title: Our new pit!
Post by: Rib-It on June 04, 2009, 09:35:57 pm
Well, the WSMs have been great for us, but we found a pit that we just couldn't pass up!  We bought the original Oklahoma Joe/Horizon prototype from Don & Sharon Will (Smoker's Wild)!

Isn't she pretty?

Congrats, that is a great looking pit.  I'm sure you will have lots of great cooks on it and lots of fun.

We look forward to seeing it out here in AZ at some of our events..

Now you just need some photos of it in action..  ;)

I wonder if we'll be seeing it when we get to the venue in Pueblo in a couple of hours.

Okay, first of all I want to give a HUGE CONGRATS to Sweet Peppers for taking Grand Champion in Pueblo!!

Second, some advice for our barbecue friends out there.  If you are planning on attending a 54 team contest where there are world champions (both past and present) as well as some of the hottest teams on the circuit, don't do the following things:  #1-Decide that vending "sounds fun"....it is not; really.  #2-Don't decide at the last minute to disregard your tried and true WSMs and use your new pit that you have cooked on once at home; once again, NOT a good idea! Especially if the new pit is being used to vend.  #3-If Vince looks at you when you tell him what you are doing and just smiles and says how happy he is to hear that you are doing that, you may want to consider changing your mind!

The pit is great, but some practice is in order!

well atleast you know it's downfalls or high points prior to a comp :-\

vending is only fun when 1.u sell out.2.u close the booth and pop a cool one!!! 3. handing over all the lute to momma bear >:D

enjoy,

 nice pit!

is this 1/4 inch thick all over?

I have an offset too, and it took me 3 years to master it... i did manage some good cooking before, but 3 years to know how to run it with great success.

practice, practice and practice.
cheers
