Stoker

OK...I need some help.  I got my stoker from John @ Rocks and now I am trying to understand what he sent me to hook it up to my UDS.  It appears that he sent me a red fire gasket with a 3/4" hole in it that is about 1/2" thick.  Then there is a small plate that attaches to the blower with 6 holes in it and some assorted hardware.

What I am trying to reconcile is the adaptation of the blower to my 3/4" pipe nipple sticking out of the UDS.

Toys or McFrankenboo...can you help me on this?  Anyone else have a stoker on a UDS?

I'm a WSM guy so I'm not help at all.  If you don't get the information you need here, call John and he'll help you with the installation.

Enjoy your Stoker.  You're going to love using it.

Thanks for the response anyway.  I appreciate your input on this.   BTW Congrats on the Stagecoach comps!

The stoker seems very interesting....I got the dual stoker system.  Is there anything you could say to me about the system in general that would make a difference in how I use it?

What is the CFM of the fans you got?  It will help if we know that info as we have both 5 & 10 CFM that we custom made adapters for.

Pictures would help, to see what you have.

I just use my adaptor from the Stumps and I got a step up adaptor from Home Depot.  It is just treaded onto the 3/4 ball valve and the stoker slips in.

Hope that makes sense.

5 cfm on a uds is plenty.  I actually have a 4 cfm, as John was out of 5 for a while.  Works fine.

OK.  Here is the adapter stuff he sent me.  Now, keep in mind I told him this was going on a UDS and I had 3/4" pipe nipples on it as well as ball valves...

The picture shows the 5 cfm fan, a 1/2" thick square red gasket with a hole in it and a small bracket with several holes in it.  There is also related hardware (screws, wing nuts, etc) that I didn't include for the picture.

How does this hook up to the UDS??

Chad,  I am sorry, but I am not sure how that would atach.  It looks like the adaptor for the BGE, that would slide into the draft door???

Sorry, but I would call John.

No problem at all.  I think I may have come up with an idea to "retrofit it".  I will post a pic when I get it done.

It will be good to keep the draft fan on a valve, so you can close down the valve if necessary.  On my stumps, I have the ball valve open about a 1/4 inch.  If I leave it wide open, it seems to over shoot the desired temp and I sometimes blow in the ash from the burn box.

Are you running lump or briquettes?

I typically run lump.  I did get a new bag of the K comp.  Might try that.
