Well after building this one for Rick I noticed some interesting points that I could improve on. I have yet to see a good one  grill in person but its the only grill that is comparable in my eyes. As for riding on some ones coat tails naw I don't need too, Im not in it for the money. Ive got two other jobs. As for studies in heat transverse and thermodynamics, well I did major in mathematics and minor in aerospace engineering but I really don't think that applies here, nor did I ask the 15000+ owners.  However, I have listened to alot of folks and do base improvements on their input. When it is finished I'll let you know. I currently have a few orders to put out and this one to finish. It will be a solid well built grill / smoker that will perform very nice.

Rick has helped me see a new grill / smoker. This pit will be the awesome. I will give you all a slight hint, but not give away the final product. As I honestly think it will beat any smoker / grill on the market. No it nots going to have any automation like gravity feed, pellet feed or insulated. It wil be close to the, "good one smoker" yet 10x better than my current build. So get ready.
I think David is just using the "Good One Smoker" as a general descriptive term, not something that is 10x better. His new smoker will be 10x better than his current build, but comparable in style to the "Good One". Read carefully guys. David puts out some real nice units, but he's not a massive production factory. If you haven't seen his work up close then you ought to, it's fantastic. I know of at least one team that uses his stuff, maybe they'll post up. Is there really anything wrong with thinking the grills and smokers that you produce are the best on the market? If i'm having someone build a unit for me, that's the attitude I want! I think David's post was read wrong and then a member jumped to a sarcastic conclusion.....but that's just me, and i'm just a public school grad.

And David, when you have some down time between your 3 jobs, wife and kids, if you can get on those 15,000 phone surveys, we'd all appreciate it.  :D

Yea the original statement had a word or two left out. It should have read, " It will be close to the good one yet 10x better than the last build. Also as for half the price, I dont think so. I will keep the price down by keeping the middle guy out but time is money. It will be nice trust me. The more I build the better I get. I've just got to get rid of my other two jobs so I can focus.

Chris No worries on the coat tails. Just looked at your smoker and some of your videos. I am on a totally different direction than you. Yet we have the same idea as competition type smoker or a nice grill all in one. As for when you are in PHX and like to visit. Unfortuantly I will be flying Night CSAR ( Combat Search and Rescue)  sorties with the USAF that week and during the day I will be in BLACK HAWK (UH60) Patrolling the International Border. I am usually at the shop a few hours a day during the week but I will send some pics when we have it done. I just didnt want you to think I was shying away. :)

I'd like to think he would revisit this issue, but I think he got a little ahead of himself in being very sarcastic to your build, not reading the post right, not getting the story straight. I'd give him the benefit of the doubt, hopefully he will post up.

Nice looking rig!

I hate grinding. I think every welder does. Should have this one done in a week. What surprised me about this one was how easy it rolled around.

Just thought I would post some updated photos of my latest PIT. This pit is big and Bad. Going to a customer in CA. I think Ive got the hang of building these vertical offsets.  Gasket, Handles are fantastic. Bit heavy but moves well with the big casters. The exhaust can be removed. However, compare it to the door and that will give you a visual on the height. I will be building the smoker I spoke of starting this week.

Another great build David! For those of you who haven't seen David's work, he does an incredible job. Really knows what he is doing, and is willing to work with you to create what ever you need.

So here we go building the new grill. I put the box together today and will do the firebox tuesday. What you are seeing in the picture is the box together with the upper lid on. I tacked it in place to ensure there is minimal movement on the lid as I welded the box together. One of the pictures depict the front drop down that I was describing. If you have any input or questions feel to comment

Yea I haven't had the chance to make to any events. I will try and make it to the next one. I have been busier than a one legged man in a ass kicking contest. The grills and smokers business is really starting to take off. I am hoping this new grill becomes a staple with the community. If all goes well I will bring it along with a few others to the next event or at least come up and drink some beers. :)
