Well I just talked to Jamie and I will be picking up the pit on July 20th. I will post some pictures once I get back and clean her up from the trip. Can't wait...she's a beauty!!
-
AWESOME Jay, CONGRATS... Can't wait to see it in person..
Where do you have to go to pick it up?
-
Ft. Worth, Texas. That's where Monica's daughter lives so I will stay with her a couple days and see the grandkids too. Worked out pretty good actually.
-
That's not too bad a drive. I go to San Angelo all the time to pick up the Diamondplate pits. Staying over a few days will be good too, the turn arounds are what is tough..
-
Ugh. San Angelo. I used to get stuck there picking up meat when I drove a truck. Not much else there.
-
My Air Force recruiter was from SA. I wound up in Abilene for 5 years. Not much there, either! But I bet they both beat he77 out of Fort Stockton, which I call Fort Stockyard. Fly capitol of the world. I think that's their biggest export. Cantaloupes are second.

When I was driving a truck, I spent alot of time waiting on meat loads in Texas. They have alot of dry counties there, so I had my golf clubs with me. I'd go play some golf, that got me a day membership in their "club", and I could buy some beer and take it on the course with me. It was the ONLY way to spend time in some of those little Texas towns.

Can't wait to see it Jay, I know it will be great.
-

-
Thom, could you stay with your inlaws until July 20th and bring the pit back...oh yeah and the secret chicken recipe. Thanks in advance. ;)
-
Southwest Air has a great carry on policy
Wonderful about checking two bags
A Jambo may not work sorry Jay
-
The chix recipe is easy too, drumette and white sauce. Winner all the time.

Congrats Jay. What color did you get it painted?

The guy just figured out how to post pictures and now he is teasing us to wait. ;D
-
Jay it's OK I can not post pic's yet. Did you get the grill on the back. I looked at them awhile back but i need to grow up first.
-
Well, drove straight through from Fort Worth, Texas yesterday. Whew, I'm pooped. 15 hours. Left at 8:15 Arizona time and got in at 11:15 last night. That's quite a haul. Got it to 90 mph one time and the pit didn't blink an eye. Stayed perfectly steady.
Got to get the pit cleaned up a little and wait till the sun comes out and I'll post some pictues.
She is a work of art, let me tell ya.
Jamie is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. You should see his pit!!!!!!! WOW!
-
Can't wait to see it, Jay....it's not pink, is it? ;)
-
So Jay, now you want one li9ke his pit???
Can't wait to see the new baby.
-
Here ya go. Don't know how to make the pictures bigger but you can click on them for a bigger view. No matter what size I make them they still come out the same size....and Dave thought I knew how to post pictures.
Actually the camera makes it look more red than it really is. It is burnt orange...in real life.

Sweet pit, what event will be it's debut??
-
That smoker is awesome!! Congrats on the new purchase.
-
Looks AWESOME Jay, congrats. I love that he put your logo on there as well.
You are still attaching pictures. To make them bigger, you have to upload them to Photobucket first (www.Photobucket.com)(it's a free site, just create your own acct and upload your pictures). Then, once they are uploaded, put your mouse over the picture you want to post. Below it will be 4 options for links. Copy the IMG one and past that in the topic where you want the picture.
It's really a lot easier than it sounds.
So, are you going to be competing with this new Smoker now?? It would be great to see it out at some of the events..
-
SWEET!!! It's so pretty, you almost hate to get it dirty with BBQ.
Congrats on your latest pit Jay!
-
I saw a bananna yellow one when I was still in Texas and thought the design was awesome. I like your color and the addition of the sign much better.
I'm curious though, where does it draw air into the firebox? I see no openings.
-
Thanks guys, actually I can't wait to get it dirty. Don't know when I will break it out at a competition....maybe Prescott. Too hot to do anything with it right now.
I'll try that next time Mike. I was using PDXresizer.
Ranger, the big screws you see on the bottom of the door adjust with a socket wrench. It moves a heavy plate closer or further from the air holes. Pretty cool cause it will keep the wind from blowing in the holes. Banana yellow! I don't have anything yellow...except my thermopen.... but to each his own.
-
Jay, it's an absolute beauty!
Congrats, amigo!!!
-
Oh My God Jay!! That is beautiful!! It does seem sad to get it dirty!! And YELLOW Thermapens rock!
Hope no bugs decided to splat against the new paint on the way home!! ;D
-
