I am surprised that is it still around, that is a smoking deal (Little pun intended). I have a #7 and it is a great cooker. If you do get it, make sure the damper (Top hat thing) moves freely. Mine got stuck and the top spider broke out, so I am trying to figure out how to fix it.
I would buy this one to replace it, if I did not already have the XL BGE.
-
Somebody better hop on it.
Hey Mark, you need another one?
-
Do they really come painted that way? Pretty ugly.
-
Dave, I think you should buy it anyway. It'll go well with your new Traeger.
-
Dean, that is not paint it is a tile. It is one of their custom tiled Kamado and cost more than the original 1x1 tiles that are standard.
Here is a really bad picture of mine, with the standard tiles. It is the red thing hiding behind the Stump's (that appears to be on life support ;D )

That's the real deal with the custom tiles...the most expensive #7 Kamado you can get. It is a heckuva deal and would cost $1568 before shipping if you bought it directly from Kamado. As much as I'd like to, I really don't need it, but hopefully one of the AZ Barbecue scoops it up. I swear by them for everything from searing steaks @ 800 degrees to overnight slow smoking @ 225 for 10 hours without reloading charcoal. The only drawback to them is that they are a pain to take to competitions. But if you have room in your yard for a piece of art that can cook, buy it ASAP.
By the way, I cooked on an identical red Kamado at a Kamado Kookoff in Sacramento a few years ago. There were over 30 contestants and I'm proud to say I won. The only drawback to using a bright red cooker is that it drew spectators like flies and they kept wanting to open it up and see how it worked. By the way, I won a #9 mosaic Kamado for my efforts and the shipping was as much as what this guy is asking for his #7.

Mark was that in 02?? I can't remember if you or Kim won the one time I cooked there. It was the first time I had ever cooked in any kind of cookoff.
It was fun, but the catagories kept moving and changing and not really what I would call Certified Judges. Not even a blind turn in.
I took mine from San Jose on a rented U Haul and I never unloaded it, as they had several there to use at the park. Did some damage to the K though during the round trip.

That's what i've been looking for and gave up and bought the XLBGE. I love the Red Tile. Matches my Spicewine and Charbroiler and my Trucks and my Super FAST Thermopen. :-\
-
I believe that was in '02. Glenn Butler won the following year and surprised everyone with his beer butt chicken with boobs. He slid lemon halves until the skin and made the perkiest chicken you ever did see! ::)
-
I have copied that technique on chicken many times since seeing that. ;D
-
The first time I saw it, I stuffed the chicken. ::)
-
Mark i sent you a PM.
-
Has anyone called to see if they stil ahave this?? the only problem I have is that it looks like it has the feet. If it was on a cart it would be at a better hight.
-
He still has it and I'm going to see it this mourning. I see a problem transporting it w/o damage. It is 9" taller than my XL Egg in the nest. :-\
-
I hope it works out for you, Dick. My #7 just has the feet and it's fine. It hasn't moved from the spot I set it in 10 years. My #9 has wheels and it only moved once when I uncrated it and rolled it across the Kool Deck. "Crunch-crunch...crunch-crunch" as it rolled over and crushed the plastic expansion joints. Aargh! :o
-
Moving those bad boys is tough, as it has nothing you can hold on to. I spun the top open, ran a tie down through the top and out the draft door. It kept the halves together and gave a hand hold. It took three of us to get it out of the Expedition.
I hope Dick buys it, cause at that price I would have to buy it and lord knows I don't need another smoker in the backyard.
-
It has been removed, so someone got it.
-
Good, I how it was Mr. Lee and it just saved me 350.00 ;D
-
Yup, It followed me home. I rented a Big Mo Dolly that they use to move trees and boulders, rolled that baby right up into the trailer. It has some Mods that came with it.Here's a picture.

Very Awesome. Can't wait to see some pictures of it in use. Congrats on a great deal..
Did you tell him about us here at AZBarbeque??
-
Congrats Dick, that is a awesome deal. I really like the look of the custom Kamados.
But, make sure that the top Hat spins freely. Mine got stuck and it snapping right off out of the collar. I think that is a weak point of the Kamados.
-
Way to go Dick. I knew it would go to a good home!

I told everyone on the Forum was talking about it, I think if he had know about us first the price would have been higher. ;D

Looks great sitting next to the BGE. Every day is Christmas in Mr. Lee's backyard! :D

I contacted Kamado about a cart for this, the Web site don't show one available for the #7. Richard asked for a picture and yesterday told me they will make a S/S cart for me. BTW he said this #7 is priceless and to take care off it. (like it is part of his family) I cooked some Boobs - Beans - Baked taters on it Sunday. It is very easy to control the temps. The lid is a lot heavier than the XL Egg, but has other features i like better.
-
I am almost positive that they don't make those custome tiled ones anymore. I was on the fence on buying this, even though I don't need it, cause I think that look great and I knew the tiled ones are special.
The lid is heavier (because the material is thinker) and does not tilt back as far as my XL BGE, but I think the K looks better. I have some issues with my Firebox cracking, the dome has cracks that go through, but it was my first smoker and I just can't get rid of it.
Congrats again, it is a great looking cooker.
-
I have been looking at that smoker for a while now. I'm glad it went to someone on this site. Congrats on the new purchase.

sweet looking smoker/grill............
