Hello all,

Hawgsmoke is an annual Air Force A-10 event where Active Duty/Guard/Reserve components from around the world compete to see who the best shot is.  This year Davis Monthan Air Force Base will be hosting this event.  A military man from Missouri has offered to provide and cook the meat for this years event.  I believe he did this for last years event too.

Here is where we need help.  The individual from Missouri will be flying here and won't be able to bring his smoker.  He has requested that we try to find a smoker to borrow/rent/etc.   Since he is graciously providing the meat and his services then I will do my best to make this event a success.

I don't know anything about smokers but he said that they use a smoker called:

Southern Pride Smoker
(an old hickory would be another type we can use).  It is a professional type smoker that is found fixed in buildings or on long trailers (find one on a trailer). It can hold around 500 pounds of meat on long racks that rotate in the unit.  It uses  electricity and propane for cooking.

If you have any information on where I could locate something like this please let me know.

If you have a smoker like this and want to be part of the event then feel free to come on out.  Heck, I might even be able to get you out on the range to witness the best Hawg Drivers around the world fire the Gau-8.

Justin, we have a few member who have smokers like that who might be interested.

We also have a few in Tucson that have decent sized rigs that might be able to also help out.  I will contact them & see if they can log on here & read this thread.

Good Luck, hopefully I am invited out to witness it, it does sound amazing..

Man I wish my 500 was portable.  My son and I were just down there for a bbq comp at Freedom RV and when he saw the A-10's he had to go see where they were landing.  Zach is 11 and loves everything about flying and military, so I just followed the direction of the planes and found the entrance to the base.  We watched for a bit, but it was late.

Best of luck on finding the cookers.  and thank you all for your service.

David,  props to you for getting your son close as you could.  He will probably remember that day forever.  I remember when I was a tot and my parents doing similar for me.  DM is having an Airshow this year.  You should bring Zach out.  April 14-15: Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz

Cheers,

Justin
